hi leonora, sorry to hear about your situation.
if you have not excluded any potential nutrient-related contribution, and would be interested in exploring that angle alongside your other medical inquiries, i might be able to offer some assistance.
if you'd be interested, i'll be here. :)

Re: all things magnesium

yes i had felt transient leg weakness at far lower doses, way back even before the time i first had the reflux cough. doesn't seem to be the specific issue lately. i might experiment further. even though my recent (pre-cough) serum levels haven't been quite as high as some recommendations, there are...

Re: all things magnesium

access and prices will differ locally, hence to each their own. i've seen it cost 4x more for RBC, sometimes I've seen it cost not quite that much more. from where i sit, every penny counts - whether from an individual or from a taxpayer perspective :)

reflux cough.. again Re: all things magnesium

adventures with magnesium. took me a while to recognize that my recent cough was not from wildfire smoke, but was a reflux cough secondary to excess magnesium and an overly relaxed lower esophageal sphincter. it has been well over 10 years since last time, but finally i did realize that 900mg/d comb...

so far, I don't think I've seen research that would convince me. doesn't mean it won't happen, but so far it hasn't. :)

Re: all things vitamin D

ok it sounds like i'm just mixing up units for calcium. personally, i gave up supplemental calcium almost 20 years ago. every time i tried it, i interpreted the side effect as kidney pain. so calcium supplements didn't last long. I definitely prioritize healthy food sources. i think calcium suppleme...

Re: all things vitamin D

always a balancing act, for sure! the reference range here is 75-250nmol/l. based on the literature for healthy controls though, I zero in on 125-150 nmol/l. i don't seem to have a calcium result handy but i feel like mine has been around 9 - so 2.26 mmol/l certainly sounds like one to work on. yike...

Re: all things vitamin D

so i recently, FINALLY used up my ultra potent D3 drops that i knew 6 drops a week was enough. with that gone, i decided to try off the shelf sublingual. started with 4K IU/d. went for a test, levels came back 200 nmol/l :O and that one specialist said sublilngual wouldn't work. agree to disagree! h...

Re: all things vitamin b12

yeah - while 'SL works' is my impression of the point being made there, the abstract could have been more informative if it included a sense of dose not just response.
