Re: Diagnosed August 4, 2016 - Dr. Recommended Copaxone

Candice, I was dx at 45 and started Copaxone within a couple months, that was 11 years ago. doing really well no complaints. I realize I have posted this before, but I also went on the best bet diet and a high vitamin D. My feeling was try everything I could to slow down the MS. It has worked for me...

Re: New and need some help sifting through this new world

Good luck, you are not alone, plenty of us out there who still do not understand the relationship between lesions and symptoms. Some people have lots of lesions with little symptoms, some have few lesions with lots of symptoms. That is one of the things which makes MS so interesting. As someone who ...

Re: Newly diagnosed and highly confused about treatment choi

Welcome, I was diagnosed about 12 years ago and I am doing fine. With MS we seem to never know how things will go, but in many cases they go well. I would take some time to decide what you want to do as far as treatment goes. A couple weeks or so is not going to make any difference in the long run. ...

Re: Vitamin D test offer

I noticed this posting 4 or 5 weeks ago and I went to the Grassroots website and ordered the test. I think it was about 50 dollars. Received the package in the mail, took the test, and mailed it back. I received my results in about a week. 49 ng/mL perfect for me. I recommend this to anyone thinking...

Re: Say NO to drugs!?

I was diagnosed at 45, I am 55 now. Right when I was diagnosed I had an uncle who died of MS at 56. Of course I decided right then I would try everything and just about anything to avoid his faith. So I started the best bet diet, copaxone, daily exercise, and taking multiple vitamins including vitam...

I agree, how much money does Teva want to make. Didn't they just spend billions purchasing another company?

Re: Further evidence of vitamin D role in MS found

What I found interesting is that whether or not the medical profession is telling us to take vitamin D those of us with MS are taking the initiative and taking on average between 2,000 and 5,000iu a day. Myself I take 8,000iu a day and have been for over 10 years since I was dx. When I had asked my ...

Re: Filling out a job application. Mark box disabled?

wilson123, I have had the same question for sometime now. I also was dx with MS about 10 years ago and am doing very well, but I wonder if I should check the disability box sometimes when filling out the applications? I am a systems engineer and recently they actually had MS listed on the form as a ...

Re: MS carrier testing.

Wow, where to start. I have never heard of a test to find out if you are a carrier of MS. How can there be a test since it is not known what causes MS. I have no idea what this 1500 dollar test would tell you? Even if there was a test why would anyone want to take it? MS does not follow any real def...

Re: just curious

I have been taking copaxone for almost 10 years now. I take it because it has no side effects to speak of, minor red mark every so often. Giving myself the shots are no problem. I am in very good health and I do not plan to switch meds until they can be proven to be safe. Also take vitamins and am o...

Re: Impact of Online Health Communities on Patient-Phys Dial

I completed the survey. I believe the availability of information on the internet from all over the world was of the greatest help to me when I was first DX. It continues to provide me with information I cannot find anywhere else. I believe anything that would restrict that information would not be ...

Re: Meet Matt Embry--offering real hope

Cheer, great post. I came across Dr. Ashton Embry's Direct-MS web site almost 10 years ago when I was first dx. I even exchanged emails with him with some questions I had. I have been following the Direct-MS plan for 10 years now and feel great. The only thing I do differently is I do take Copaxone,...

Re: I need urgent help. I am considering suicide.

You have to seek help right now. You need to find a doctor who can help you. If you are thinking you want to die, you are already not thinking right. I know I have been there, it took my wife getting help for me to save my life. You can not do it yourself. It was five years ago for me and I am doing...

Re: Questioning diagnosis

I received my dx ten years ago at 45. I could not agree more that diet, nutrition, exercise, medication, and life style all play big roles. Still on copaxone after 10 years, best bet diet, lots of exercise, vitamin d. Feel great, and I agree with Chris again, not the end of the world. Dave
