Re: Biogen to Pay Elan $3.25 Billion for Full Tysabri Rights

Is Biogen hedging BG12? I thought BG12 was going to grab quite a bit of market share away from Tysabri...

Re: Coverage for Copaxone

@Wendy7062 - have you checked into upgrading your health plan (to silver or higher)? According to the MA connector website, as of July 1 open enrollment has begun. This seems like the path of least resistance to getting your copay down. @its2much - the lack of a copay assistance program in MA is mor...

Re: Coverage for Copaxone

Shared Solutions offers a program that has a $35 per month copay. I sign up 2 months ago as my copay was up to $900 per month. I think Shared Solutions limits their copay assistance to $500 a month. Has it changed? Also, on the sharedsolutions website, the terms and conditions say "This offer ...

Re: Coverage for Copaxone

Ok, the OP's situation really bothers me so I took some time to research this. The OP says she's in MA. The bronze level plans shown on the MA Connector health insurance site seem to have 50% co-insurance for the highest listed Tier - Tier III drugs. I assume copaxone is one of those. So, $2500 / mo...

Re: Coverage for Copaxone

One possibility is to obtain the drug through a Canadian or overseas mail order pharmacy. I have looked at this out of curiosity, but haven't had to "go there" yet. From what I recall the packaging is different - you typically obtain boxes of 28 rather than 30 syringes. Perhaps it is packe...

Re: Biogen files NDA for BG-12

BG12 appears to be the second generation of a prior compound whose brand name is fumaderm. Fumaderm is approved in Germany to treat psoriasis but from what I've read - isn't generally used as first line therapy. It doesn't sound like fumaderm is particularly expensive in Germany - but its not the sa...

A good site that monitors quite a few early stage drugs is listed below. They still show RTL1000:

Re: Traveling with coaxone?

I've traveled extensively throughout not only the US, but also Europe, Asia, and the Middle East without issues. Several times an officer has looked inside my copaxone travel box, but no issues. I do keep a copy of my prescription label on the outside of the box, and I do carry a letter from my neur...

As I stated in another thread, I was Dx'd RRMS in 2003 and have built up my fitness significantly since Dx. Now, I run ~20 miles a week, lift weights, do martial arts, 100 pushups a day, etc. I've been on copaxone for the last 4 years while doing all this activity. Yes, I'm having a mild optic neuri...

Frankly, I've never had much luck getting dextromethorphan to suppress my symptoms when I have a cough - which is its primary indication. Its codeine or bust for me when I get one of those nasty lungie gunko things going. But if it has a chance to treat my current bout of optic neuritis, I might jus...

how does one judge treatment failure?

Hello all - long time lurker, sometimes poster here, its been awhile. I had on/off symptoms of ON, Lhermitte's for many years (early to mid 1990s I had episodes of both, but neither led to an MS Dx). I had Xrays, etc. and ON was written off as a virus-fluke, Lhermitte's as a neck disc issue. I was f...

I am male, have been on copaxone over 3 yrs now, have gotten some nasty bruises and lumps but no lipoatrophy. I'm on every other day dosing now. Lipoatrophy has been discussed before on this site. I put a few links below including a study that was done in Canada. http://www.thisisms.com/ftopict-391....

The text seems to contradict the conclusion of the study - 12.5% vs 18.1% for those with the new formulation suggests a relative risk INCREASE of nearly 50% for tolerability problems with the new formulation. A typo? Anybody have a link to the original paper? Adverse events were reported by 12.5 per...

I have been on daily copaxone for 3 yrs now. I was perhaps missing around 2-3 shots per month during this time. During my time on copaxone I have had no relapses; I don't have any disability or frankly - even any symptoms. My neuro has agreed to have me try doing copaxone every other day for this - ...
