Re: Beijing Institute--neurosurgeons treating jugular veins
Hey there- Just wanted to share an update from the medical group in Beijing. They continue to publish and are members of the ISNVD. Lots of new data in this paper, available in toto for free. I hope to see a large clinical trial of venous treatments for MS in my lifetime, but it may not happen. If i...

Beijing Institute--neurosurgeons treating jugular veins
Hi all, Wanted to check in and share some ongoing research. The Beijing Institute for Brain Disorders has been using stents to repair slowed jugular venous flow, reduce collateral veins, improve intracranial hypertension and cerebral perfusion in a variety of patients. The Beijing Institute for Brai...

Hi Centenarian- 1. Sadly, the results of those who had maintained blood flow were NOT separated from those who restenosed. They were reported together in the "treated" group. So, we don't know what the improvements were for those who were treated and maintained venous flow. BTW, it's not &...

Re: The Brave Dreams clinical trial of venous PTA
Thank you for discussing the complete results and linking the full paper! Yes, it's hard to know how the results might have gone had blood flow been restored for more than 54% of the participants....hard to judge the true value of a procedure when it is not completed. We may never know the truth...b...

Oh, dear Bromley. Did you read the full JAMA paper, or simply the editorial comments? Here is the complete paper. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaneurology/fullarticle/2664001#editorial-comment-tab The delayed effect of venous PTA 6 months after the procedure on the magnetic resonance biomarker...

Re: brain drain
:?: Could this be linked to CCSVI?? Hi Mark-- Having spoken with both Jonathan Kipnis and Maiken Nedergaard about this---their answer is yes. As the jugular veins are the drainage outlet for these newly discovered lymphatic vessels, any type of slowing, blockage, stenosis, valvular issues or hamper...

Hi M.A., Rogan and Cece-- The science is taking a long time, but the fact that Dr. Zamboni's Brave Dreams results will be published later this year is actually a good thing. Dr. Zamboni wanted to wait to make any announcements, until all of the neurologists and vascular specialists had a chance to r...

Re: Potential cause found - another RAB32 link
Why, Elliot! Your sarcastic comment is right on point! :-D  Elevated levels of Rab32 and endoplasmic reticular (ER) stress have been found related to disrupted blood flow and endothelial dysfunction. Already published by vascular researchers. Contributors to ER stress include low levels of NO ...

Re: Apology needed from Cheerleader and Cece
I'm glad Cece was nice and tactful to Bromley, she is a much better human than I am! Bromley was always condescending and nasty to me on this forum. F him. I did this all for my incredible husband, Jeff Beal, and I shared info here with friends.. Jeff had actual jugular stenosis, which was documente...

Re: steven novella's article on CCSVI
Hi Cece-- Hope you're well! We have been really busy, and I'm not on here any more. still writing my blog and over at Facebook. Neuros are making a preemptive strike, as Dr. Zamboni will be discussing his Brave Dreams trial at the upcoming Veith vascular conference, and they want to get ahead of the...

As dicussed at ISNVD this year, pulsatile flow creates a risk for CMBs. http://stroke.ahajournals.org/content/43/10/2631.abstract http://isnvd.org/sites/default/files/Accepted%20Conference%20Abstracts%20-%20Oral.pdf Treating venous outflow abnormalities (with a temporary use of anti-coagulation ther...

Re: Cerebral microbleeds in MS patients....
7T machines are allowing researchers to see beyond white matter lesions. Plasmic particles leak thru "fragile" capillaries (a term used by Dr. Roy Swank in the 1950s) Blood in brain tissue causes oxidative stress, demyelination, iron deposition and inflammation. The vascular evidence conti...

Re: Gene NR1H3 recently discovered interacts with endotheliu
Hi Frodo-- you were not alone in noticing this :) (although no one in the medical press nor the researchers even mentioned it.) Mutations of this specific gene are found in vascular disease. I actually wrote up a whole blog post on this discovery. http://ccsviinms.blogspot.com/2016/06/gene-implicate...
