Think you're right, lyndacarol - it makes sense for GPs to check thyroid levels since the origin of some of the symptoms could be masked. I'd also suggest a routine test for B12 deficiency since that is highly represented in the MS population.

Hello Amazon - that may well be the answer! I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis (which developed after Graves disease wasn't diagnosed or treated in time). I hadn't realised that the sleeping disorder was linked. Thanks for throwing light on this. Am horrified to hear you fall asleep at the wheel - has t...

Thanks for your response, Sharon - much appreciated. Being in limbo re a MS dx, I tend to query whether changes I'm experiencing have any significance.

Hello Amazon, welcome to the board. Aaargh the fuzzy brain syndrome! (that was my understated way of saying I share your difficulty). I rely heavily on the Firefox browser's automatic spell check and The Sage dictionary and thesaurus (docked in the tool bar) when terminology and spelling prove elusi...

Hello Shell,

I haven't posted anything about autism. You might like to ask Lyon - he was the person providing information on this topic (see previous page of this thread).

Hope you're able to find the information you're seeking,

Welcome Kaizen, I'm new here too and have found the site extremely informative, interesting and welcoming. I visited Athens a few years ago while touring Greece and fell for its charms. One lingering memory is of seeing a man on his hands and knees checking for buried antiquities amongst the rubble ...

Managed to buy two huge containers of fish oil capsules yesterday (on sale half price at the hospital pharmacy). That alone justifies the journey, even if the consultation proves unproductive! Delighted to see that the oil is also used to treat arthritis so I'm definitely getting extra value.

Dom, That sounds absolutely hellish - like rolling around in stinging nettles. I'm really glad to hear the Daktacort has managed to assuage it at present. Certainly puts my facial rash into perspective - it's only mildly irritating (and I'm no oil painting at the best of times). I would have decline...

Dom, sorry to hear about your Bullous Pemphigoid diagnosis - I hope it transpires that your symptoms have a less unpleasant origin. My rheumatologist has referred me to a dermatologist for skin biopsies to determine the cause of a facial rash (current contenders: Lupus SLE malar rash, Systemic Scler...

Rather than duplicate existing topics, I thought I should 'bump' this thread. As a lifelong insomniac I've always viewed it as a bonus (more hours available for reading, conversations till dawn with insomniac friends). I'll quickly gloss over the occasional sleep-deprived irritability. Lately I've b...

Apologies for bumping an old post but I'm entranced by the idea of MS Reality Simulation for neurologists: Maybe they could be persuaded to spend the day in one of those old-fashioned funfair houses - the ones with sloping floors, irregular sized steps and crooked doorways. As an act of kindness we ...

Lyon, thanks - I appreciate you clarifying the distinction between increased risk and unique relationship. When it became clear that some of my symptoms weren't attributable to pre-existing dx, and my GP posited MS or SLE as a cause, I started net-trawling looking for links tying them all together. ...

Hello Ally,

I'll gladly send you the links in a PM.

I'm also wondering whether they might be of interest in the other thread specifically looking at possible links between MS and autoimmune thyroiditis?

Forgive the autobiographical information but: I developed Graves Disease six years ago, unfortunately it wasn't diagnosed until more than two years had elapsed. The strain on my thyroid had its effect and I am now being treated for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I am currently undergoing tests and waiting...
