Re: Amputation for foot drop?
Just bringing this back up again. You know, in reading my prior comment, I can see how naive I was. Almost 10 years later, I find myself in a similar position to understand how the OP was feeling as I now too experience how limiting and frustrating a significant footdrop can be. What I had 9 years a...

Re: c-reactive protein and differential wbc
My c-rp and blood panel have been normal every single time tested, and I've had very active MS for decades. I was told recently when investigated that my arteries were "pristine".
IMO, the test is not so much informative for an MS diagnosis if you're looking for indications towards that.

Here is a study reviewing original meds on MS progression to SPMS: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23124789 Mult Scl Epub 2012 Nov 1. Time to secondary progression in patients with multiple sclerosis who were treated with first generation immunomodulating drugs. Tedeholm H1, Lycke J, Skoog B, Lis...

Re: Having trouble finding "the truth" about MS statistics
This was published recently, it might answer some of your questions, although it doesn't account for any impact that meds may have. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25712541 J Neurol. 2015 Feb 26. [Epub ahead of print] The outcome spectrum of multiple sclerosis: disability, mortality, and a cluste...

Re: 5 days of IV Steroids: Still no improvement
IVSM only reduces inflammation and thereby hastens recovery from an exacerbation, it doesn't change where a person would have ended up anyway. It doesn't change the outcome: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15327039 As you can see from this evaluation, not everyone responds to it either (I don't)....

Re: MS and vascular problems associated beyond any doubt
I'm sorry, but to find an association "beyond any doubt" between MS and vascular problems in a study whose background suggests conflict between any association and whose conclusion clearly states that their review is confined to MSer's in a small number of regions , seems to me to be over-...

Re: CCSVI Treatment for Primary Progressive MS?
In reference to the link that Cece provided, I don't even think the Albany group is performing CCSVI procedures any longer, I can't find any reference to CCSVI on their website anymore. I believe, while they may have found short-term improvements in some of their patients early-on on self-reported m...

Re: I need urgent help. I am considering suicide.
You want to give in because of what soimething "might" be like, without ever giving yourself a chance to know what it IS like or test your own strengths? We'd all be gone if we wrote ourselves off before finding out what life IS like, because life is difficult at times for everyone. And wh...

Re: Amputation for foot drop?
I don't think amputation is medically indicated for foot drop. I doubt this is even an option, you couldn't find a surgeon who'd agree to do this. If the Bioness must be worn with shoes, there's another one, I think WalkAide, that doesn't need shoes. I agree with Geoff that it could be upper nerves/...

Re: CBD Marijuana Capsules
That's great that it appears to be helping you. How much do you use, and do you have a preferred method of ingestion as to its impact or duration of effectiveness? Do you have an AFO or FES to help when your leg begins to drag? Your muscles seem to have retained their mass if you rather suddenly are...

Re: Need advice on my NUCCA experience, please.
When I try something new, I tend to give it a time deadline before I make any judgments about it, say 6 months or a year. That way, I'm not having unrealistic expectations and critical review after each treatment, I don't think that's giving a new regime a fair shake. Sometimes, I will keep a runnin...

Re: PwMS in placebo end of trials are having less relapses
People in the placebo arm could be having less relapses than they did in the placebo arm earlier because with the internet and informative information much more freely available, people could be much more afraid of MS's trajectory and their prognosis than beefore when almost everything we knew about...
