We have crohns, hashimoto's, psoriosis in the family. No MS except me. I have (had) sjogrens, endometriosis, MS and some weird thing that doesn't quite fall into any other autoimmune disease, but is autoimmune- hyperelastic skin. Well, I don't have the skin thing right now. HiCy resolved that- at le...

Oh, I worked out like crazy. Really heavy exercise for 1 1/2 hours per day, ate a low fat diet (swank diet), took lots of supplements and anti-oxidants. But what turned me around from the first four years of the disease when I was relapsing every 3-4 months was oral myelin. It wasn't supposed to wor...

I still had severe fatigue, but no other symptoms for a full 9 years. MRI's also showed no progression. In 2000, due to a severly stressful even I had one minor attack, which caused tingling and numbness in my hands and arms. I lost some function permanently in my right hand. I then started copaxone...

I had practically no disability for 20 years. Over 2 years I progressed to about a 6.5. Over the past 8 months, I've gotten a lot back from Revimmune, but probably still remain at least a 5 at this point. I didn't start copaxone until year 13 of this disease. I continued to progress unrelentingly af...

Any mention in the article of the fact that prolactin is, I believe, the only substance shown in animal studies to be very effective in repairing myelin? Why aren't more scientists jumping at researching that one? Could it be that the pharmaceutical industries that fund research could lose out by th...

I'll have to think about that, AC. I suppose it is possible. Would that account for a prolonged remission of 5 years or more for some after Revimmune? Thank you so much for your input. I am completely out of my league with you guys!!! The BBB involvement seems to be have been a low priority for rese...

Thanks Bob, What I meant by initiator promotor is that maybe MS is just one disease. Some event (infections- bacterial, viral, etc. + genetic predisposition starts the process) and any number of things stress, hormones, severe oxidative load or the same viruses or bacteria that initiated the immunol...

Thanks for the kind words. No doubt in my mind that being pregnant, pregnant and nursing or just nursing for 5 1/2 years was keeping the MS at bay. Lactation also inhibited ovulation and menstruation in me for 3 full years too. But the only direct relationship was ceasing lactation. Since I had that...

My son just turned 8. He was and is allergic to all foods. I nursed him for about 4 years. MS was in control before then, but seemed to improve a bit during nursing. Got pregnant with Sammi (not planned) and I had to stop nursing- I could only eat 1 food while I nursed Jon and couldn't find a doc to...

When I tried to re-initiate lactation after my MS was spiraling down, I was not able to. Some women can. There are medication that can increase prolactin levels and help adoptive women with the process as they latch the adopted infant on for the direct stimulation of the breast. After a while they c...
