Re: Obtaining Social Security Disability

I applied through http://www.allsup.com in June and was approved in November. The money started to arrive in April of the next year, and then Medicare in another 18 months.

Re: Books that you re-read over and over

Harry Potter; "The Goodnight Gecko" by Gill McBarnet, and "A Fairy went A- Marketing" by Rose Fyleman. Wonderful illustrations in the latter two.

Adult books? My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin.

Re: Have you switched to Tecfidera? Are you glad you did?

Yes, and Yes. I was using Avonex for about 18 months and really wanted to switch to one of the oral meds. I have been a Tecfiderian since May and aside from minor stomach issues the first 2 or 3 days, it's been great. My last relapse was September 2010.

Re: SSDI

I went through Allsup as my representation and got approved in 4 months. They did all the paperwork for me. Highly recommended.

Re: Anybody take Interferon and has no side effects?

The only issue I've had in 4 months on Avonex is a generally "blah" feeling on the morning after. Otherwise, it's been fine. I miss Tysabri though.

Relapse with no insurance. What do you do?

I recently had a bad relapse, and luckily I was covered by health insurance at the time so I could get an MRI and Solu-Medrol. But now I 've lost my job and will have no insurance starting June 1. What do you do when you have no insurance, no income and have a relapse? Just deal? I have applied for ...

Well, up until yesterday, when I lost my job, I was scheduled for my first infusion. I was told by my insurance that they would cover 20% after deductible, and my share would be $500 to $700 a month (got approved for $10 copay for the tysabri itself by the Touch people though). So that's approx $250...

Thank for posting about the site! Good stuff there. Just the thought of doing all that paperwork (ok, webwork) again has made me put it off. This will be a great help.

I don't see anything changing as far as MS research and such is concerned, I'm sure it's way down the list of things that need attention.

Good for you, Arti. Different opinions make for interesting discussions I think. I was raised LDS (Mormon), and that church's official stand is very like the Catholic Church's. I watched my mother (who was very Mormon) die of cancer and while she hated the saying "Endure to the end", she n...

I've been taking 4.5 mg LDN for a week now. I feel my best today. The first three days I had a horrible attack of constipation like I haven't had since taking phen/fen back in '97 and figure it must be the LDN as nothing else was different. I also felt just as tired, and had a lovely attack of the a...

Assisted suicide article (woman with MS)

I have often been intrigued by the idea of assisted suicide, and figured it would be an option if I ever got to a certain point. Well, that point is a bit closer since being diagnosed with MS. I have always said I would want to go when I can't wipe my own a*s. I meant it in a joking way, but now... ...
