Radeck, I was so sorry to hear about this complication and invasive emergency procedure with your stent. I just wanted to let you know, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I wish you good recovery. I'm so sorry you obviously have much more to recover from than what you went into expecting. It's ...

Hey thanks all! I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Hallmark makes nice stuff and I've been lucky enough to usually do about one project a year for them. My Dad is a real dog lover - he organized the complete moving/rebuilding of a dog park in Nevada County CA, so this one was for him! Love the story abo...

I felt so bad and MAD when Joan told me about these Biker Dudes - I would have liked to give them a swift kick - but I know one high D from Joan's Soprano voice in full opera fortissimo would have scared the bejezzus out of them(!) Joan sent some pics this of the town with looks lovely! We tried a b...

Hey Loobie - I'd say 'yes' and 'yes' to the recheck and any possible adjustments - I had my 2 month check up with Stanford July 6th - (monday) we had to drive back to LA that same night to get our son back into summer school- I would imagine you could do it 'all' in one visit. The only caveat is tha...

Ballooning, shoulder pain, etc

Hi all- It's been so wonderful to read all the stories of folks who've seen Dr Dake and had various stenting procedures done. Since I'm the first, Joan mentioned that several are curious about the shoulder/neck pain issue. Like many, after my 1st procedure, this was very slow to dissipate - I'd say ...

Thanks all for reading and your response! Marc, your tribute to your wife Karen is just wonderful. It's really amazing how the worst of life's circumstances can bring out the best in people, and I'm sure you feel blessed as I do! I loved the joke about the jewelry store! In fact I recall looking at ...

A Tribute to my AMAZING wife (aka Cheerleader)

25 Years ago Joan (aka cheerleader) and I stood at the alter of my hometown church and said these words to each other: 'to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do ...

hey thanks all for weighing in - Yes, exactly there can't be a double blind surgery. I will be the first person to say that the experience of one patient is by definition anecdotal, and should be read and taken as such. I just abhor the idea of false hope for us. All of those suffering with a chroni...

3 week post stent update

Hi Everybody - it's just over 3 weeks, since my dual jugular stents were put in at Stanford. I wanted to let you all know the latest. All head pain is gone, and it's usually very easy to forget these are even 'in'. One difficulty, has been episodes of shoulder-pain. Esp. on my upper left shoulder. B...

Hi Marie - I'm so glad to hear your procedure went well at Stanford. I hope you feel better soon - the first 5-6 days were the worst and then the thobbing head pain subsided for me. Get good rest, as much as you need whenever you can. And I'm glad to hear you are already feeling some subtle but palp...

Thanks Loo. doing 'pollock' opened a lot of doors for me - I'm wishing you all the best on your upcoming tests/treatment at Stanford - given the less obvious nature of your presentation - I'll be very curious to see how it plays out. I have to say more than 2 weeks out now - the energy level differe...

Thanks, a couple other things, and few answers-

I know we of all manage several different meds and supplements daily (what fun, eh? esp. when we have to travel... ugh): I should also let you know that post op. you need to be on a course of blood thinners while the veins 'form' around the stint area, and to make sure everything stays flowing prope...
