Gilenya and rash

Hi everyone, I started Gilenya on January 20th. About two weeks ago I noticed a rash that has now spread all over my body (small itchy bumps that are hard to see, but can be felt). Last week my neuro wanted me to start a once every other day dose and take benadryl at night. One week later and no imp...

Re: Tecfidera How to minimize or Eliminate Side Effects

Have you tried the methods listed in the first post by Ladymac? It seems to do the trick! My first dose was without anything, and not enough food. I thought it would be my last dose! I was a mess with flushing, burning and itching... followed by a really unhappy stomach. I tried baby asprin for the ...

Re: Tecfidera How to minimize or Eliminate Side Effects

I am using the guidelines listed above and have found it to be the best method for reducing the side effects. I do skip the evening antacid, but I've also increased my food intake. I used to eat small meals throughout the day. Now I eat large meals whenever it's tecfidera time! The first week was re...

Re: Benefits from Abx treatment???

Hi Liberation, Sorry for the delay in response... I didn't realize you had asked a follow-up question about probiotics. I've had good luck with a few I've gotten though Vitacost... they are Vitacost Super 8 Acidophilus ProBiotic -- Vegetarian Capsules and Vitacost Probiotic 15-35 -- 35 billion CFU**...

Re: Benefits from Abx treatment???

Hi Liberation, My LLMD had placed me on several different regimens over three last few years, all recommended through the CPN.org site's protocols. I can't say if any have worked better than others, but I do know that some have been easier to tolerate than others. I think that's based on individual'...

Re: Just starting

Thank you for the suggestions. I did try the ibuprofin and drank lost of water. That definitely helped witht the flu-lile symptoms. The avonex didn't last long. I made it through two titrations before I had my first inclination of depression creeping in. That was enough for me to through in the towe...

Re: calling all Dr Wheldon's antibiotics-protocol followers

I've been on the protocol since 2010. Two years into treatment and I'm doing well. No vast improvements, but no declines either. I have leveled and am treating my gut in order to leave no stone unturned. A recent MRI did show a new lesion, but I had also stopped abx for a few months to give my stoma...

Re: How does one go about finding a doc who knows about ABX

There are also a number of Lyme Literate docs who will test for CPn and treat accordingly. I started seeing one when I thought Lyme was my main culprit, only to learn it was only a small piece of my puzzle. Needless to say, they are following the Stratton/Wheldon protocols for my treatment and have ...

Re: Benefits from Abx treatment???

Liberation,
I'm just finishing my second month of a three month purchase of Benebiotics. I don't think they were worth the money and I've found others which are much better and cheaper. I didn't do much research before purchasing them, but I still wanted to give them a shot. Not very impressed.

Just starting

But I chose Avonex for the convenience. I'm hoping the side effects don't outweigh the benefits. I started with Copaxone, but the daily injections coupled with the injection site reactions were enough to decide to stop after only 3 months. So today was my fist dose... The titration. I guess we'll se...

Re: Almost clever checking in ;)

Hi Almost Clever, I'm in the same Lyme boat with you as are a few family members. My sister was treated with the IV PICC line for 6 weeks and showed slight improvement, but then went back downhill when it was removed. We switched docs and the new one has prescribed Bicillin injections instead. It se...

I was tested for CCSVI (had a venogram done after a suspicious MRV) and I had no stenosis. I had originally been diagnosed with MS, so I thought this may be my answer. When no stenosis was discovered, I began searching elsewhere. Low and behold, I have Lyme coupled with some other intercellular infe...

Hi Almost Clever, It's not uncommon to test negative for Lyme, despite the amount of time one has been infected (that's my understanding). The criteria the CDC uses for a "positive" diagnosis disregards some important Lyme markers that many of us have. If you suspect you have Lyme, the mos...

Hi We Will, I went into the venogram/angioplasty procedure thinking I had MS (diagnosed multiple times) only to discover that I didn't have CCSVI. Through the gentle prodding of other TIMS members, I went on for further testing. I signed up for the clinical trial at the National Institutes of Health...
