Re: Stanford successfully injects stem cells directly into b

The study my doctor is trying to get funded is/was going to inject embryonic stems cells into the 'white matter' of the brain. They are having problems getting it funded plus getting ethical approval.
We'll see...

Re: Stanford successfully injects stem cells directly into b

My doctor told me the drug companies are already working on ways to get involved withstem cells.
He mentioned though that their biggest push is to get involved with medical pot!! He said that where they see the money is at.

Re: Stanford successfully injects stem cells directly into b

LOL, I should be happy but this gets me very mad. I have been supposed to be in a study similar to this, but using the good stuff - embryonic stem cells, I have been waiting for the last two years. BUT, the researcher is having trouble getting the money in order for the university to approve the stu...

"stunning" results from stem cell expmnt on stroke victims

Stanford researchers are seeing stunning results from injecting stem cells into the brains of stroke victims. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2016/06/02/stanford-researchers-stunned-by-stem-cell-experiment-that-helped-stroke-patient-walk/ LOL, I should be happy but this gets me...

Re: Amputation for foot drop?

There is a big difference in a foot vs arm. The foot is what's causing my trips and falls. The foot is stopping me from so many little things like walking in/out of the house through our sliding door (with a small threshold), and other annoying issues. Really upsets me I can't even climb in to my fr...

Re: Amputation for foot drop?

-I can't use the walkaide as it relies on a somewhat 'normal' gait which I don't have. It depends on the angle of the lower leg to determine when to 'fire'.
-fyi Bioness has a stimulator for the upper leg as an addon to the drop stim, but that isn't my problem.

Re: Amputation for foot drop?

I agree with you about in the house, but unfortunately we have berber carpet, which my wife loves but I hate as it is very rough on my foot when I drag it. It's also a very long lasting carpet that I can't afford to rip out! When my foot gets sore from the carpet I wear a pair of moccasains that are...

Re: Amputation for foot drop?

No, I don't think over the edge. As I said I have been thinking of this for years. And I might be a cowboy, but you are def a dreamer if you think something in our lifetimes will 'fix this mess'! Our damage is permanent unless we those pesky stem cells do work for us someday..... LOL, don't mean any...

Amputation for foot drop?

As I sit here with my sore back due to always dragging my foot around I have been wondering if I would be better off with an artificial foot! I have the Bioness l300 which helps when I do have shoes on, but it doesn't totally work. I am just so tired of this foot always being in the way... A few yea...

Anti-lingo study - lawyers and bureaucrats suck!

I've been waiting for two years for the anti-lingo phase 2 study to start, phase 1 seemed very promising and I probably had a spot in the phase 2 study. My doctor and I were very enthusiastic about it, and he was going to lead a local study center. Found out last week that it looks like the 'entire'...
