6 Month Update

Hi Everyone: My husband was diagnosed with PPMS in 1997. About 6 months ago he was treated for CCSVI by Dr. Mandato in Albany. His left and right jugulars and azygous were treated by angioplasty. Before the procedure, he had weakness on his left side, fatigue, questionable balance, a pale, drawn fac...

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all of this information. Cece, he did have a follow-up ultrasound in Albany. When he turned his head one way, the upper left jugular was completely open. When he held his head normally, it was compressed - I'm not sure by how much. So, as you say, I guess it's a ...

compressed upper jugular

Hi Everyone: My husband was treated by Dr. Mandato on Dec. 14th. He was ballooned in the azygous, the right jugular and in two places in the left jugular. One of the places on the left jugular was higher up. Dr. Mandato said that there seems to be some compression of the jugular by the carotid arter...

Hi There: My husband had his procedure this morning with Dr. Mandato. It was a very positive experience. The nurses and Dr. Mandato were all very kind and professional. My husband had over 50% blockage in each of the right and left jugulars, so Dr. Mandato ballooned there. He also required balloonin...

Related to this discussion, I think, is the correlation of lesions with walking ability. My husband is weak only on his left side. IT started with foot drop in his left leg and now he has to lift his hip to swing his leg and he also has very limited function in his left hand (that didn't stop him fr...

That's an excellent question Bruce and one I would have myself. I'm so happy for your wife's improvements, by the way. It must feel so surreal, especially since your expectations were in check! All of the explanations above do not explain how the better-oxygenated blood increases nerve conduction so...

Thanks for the updates, Bruce and scotland! I think that our expectations are in check - we also have the attitude that it's a reasonable thing to do/try. Scotland, you reminded me to ask - is there anyone else out there who will be at the clinic on Dec. 14th? I think that Guider will be there, but ...

Got a call from Siskin's nurse today. She gave a lower percent of succes than the 1/3,1/3,/13 idea. Shje said more like 15-20 percent have marked success. Yikes, I'm more scared now than ever! Hmmm, I wonder where they're getting these numbers. Is it a systematic analysis, or is it based on percept...

Hi Bruce: I'm so glad that everything went well (ie, no complications) with your wife. I agree, having to sign the consent for a stent is another thing to worry about. Thanks for the heads up about it! I also appreciate the discussion that you started about this in the other thread. Do you mind shar...

Thank you for the update brave. I'm glad that you're home safe and sound. I hope that you feel even a little improvement in the coming days. We got a call from Dr. Mandato on Thanksgiving Thursday and he mentioned how busy they are since it was a holiday and many people had holidays. I can understan...

gordon - everything takes time . CCSVI research and development will take longer than we desire . There is a human safety issue ..... to be answered first . And I believe this stage .... is well underway . That car that you purchased yesterday ...... was planned and designed .... about 3 years ago....

We will be staying at the Quality Inn & Suites, 611 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Phone: (518) 785-5891. Its just down the road from the clinic. We have a small suite at only $99 per night and there's free hot breakfast. I can let you know if its nice when we get back but it looks fine on the web site. ...
