Re: Progressive MS treatment phase III study update
Bursting bubbles here. Sigma Aldrich, a major research and pharmaceutical chemical supplier, sells 5 grams of pharmaceutical grade biotin for $527. 5 grams is 5,000 milligrams. At 300 mg/day, that is 16+ days worth of biotin at around $33/day. Cheap by the standards set by pharma for MS drugs. But t...

Re: calcitriol tests
Is the injectable form more potent at similar doses compared to oral, and is it tolerated better at very high doses? The male mice got a huge dose and did not seem to suffer from it. Of course, people vs mice might not correlate exactly with dosing. I just despise ms and always look for another wea...

Re: calcitriol tests
I once was prescribed calcitrol for bone density, years ago. I have no recollection of the dose nor of any noticeable side effects (ie loose bowels) The dose for bone density was most likely in the 0.5 mcg - 1.0 mcg range. There is a study [/size] of a 2.5 mcg/day trial in MS for 48 weeks, mainly l...

Re: calcitriol tests
Just wondered if anyone has tried an injectable form of calcitriol? Would this eliminate the loose bowels or is that just part of heavy dosing? I will give the oral route a try just to test it out. Will post when I do so. I am rrms so will be interesting to see if results differ. Thanking you all, ...

Re: calcitriol tests
One comment on the informal testing that PointsNorth and a few other brave souls have done is that while we are seeing positive clinical effects at a dose of 15 mcg (and diarrhea above 22.5 mcg), we are not able to measure changes in the immune profile to see whether the effect on the immune system ...

Re: calcitriol tests
Thanks for the info. I'm looking for the single injected dose that would be out of my system in 6-8 hours. I see that long term usage could be a problem. I sure don't need any more damage. The topical route would be kinda cool but I may have to bathe in the stuff. Thanks and good health to all. Rib...

Re: calcitriol tests
you could run your own individual trial if you got your hands on a sample of this stuff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcipotriol this is going back years now, but i have put this stuff on my skin, then asked the doc to test serum calcitriol to make sure it wasn't going too high. it was actually wa...

Re: calcitriol tests
Are any trials upcoming for high dose calcitriol? I loathe to start gilenya. Has a dosage been found that helps with people, and if so what is a dose I could start with? My gp is curious and I need to give him a figure. Thanks to all, Ribeye Efforts are underway to get a trial organized very soon a...

Re: Proof of Concept - Calcitriol Pulse
Hello Ed, There are two reasons for starting with females: 1-Ratio of pwMS is approx 3female:1male. So test in larger group. 2-Dosage of calcitriol in female mice was approx half that of males (Hayes study). Using females enables study to give a higher (more effective?) dose. A proof of concept stu...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS
My advice is to conduct 'proof of concept' trial in women with MS, which is a pharma industry approach. I realise that the Hayes team will take an academic approach as that is their mindset. The advantage of a 'proof of concept' study is that it probably yields quicker results. Speed is money in in...

from minute 41 onward I talk about Vitamin D, and why I don’t like to see blood levels above 40. - See more at: http://truttmd.com/who-the-heck-is-paul-offit/#sthash.x3zR6OZa.dpuf There are a number of criticisms of the conclusions drawn by IOM from the NHANES all cause mortality data, particularly...

Re: Female hormone estriol, combined with Copaxone, reduces
There is a separate study by the same group of testosterone for men with MS that showed benefits.Kronk wrote:Note that the study included women ONLY. It has been shown that estrogen and specifically estriol increases MS issues in Men.
Re: Estriol
:-D Here I am beating the drum. In light of the news about estriol (a very long time coming) I want to bump the thread. Here’s a link to the news release from the NIH Preliminary Results Show Improvement in MS Symptoms (One has to wonder why they don’t identify estriol in the title???) Combining th...
