Re: Study shows MS patients benefit from exercise

I have found that specialist neurological physiotherapists are really good at designing exercises to target specific areas of weakness.

Re: Sleeping position

I don't understand why, but if I do anything that stretches the nerves in my spine, my right knee just collapses when I walk, and it becomes painful etc. sleeping curled up or with on my side with one knee drawn up is one of the things that stretches my spine. If I sleep on my side with a cushion un...

Re: Cooling pillow?

In the summer I use cold packs, I also have some cold wrist and neck wraps and a cooling vest. If my body temperature rises even a small amount I am really spastic. If I know I will have to get into the car after it has been parked in the sun, I have a few cold packs in a freezer box ready and I jus...

Would like to hear from people using Ampyra

Reply to topic in 'general' section: I have been using it for about 2 months. It's definitely not a wonder drug. I'm really not sure if I am walking any better - maybe marginally. As that research from squiffy stated, I think I would get more or equal benefit from physio. I think I might go off it f...

Re: Ampyra - 2+ years and working great

Even if it allows the taker to exercise a bit more and hopefully increase mobility, it would be good value.

Re: Ampyra - 2+ years and working great

It is good to hear that it is working for someone. I have only just started taking Fampyra and it hasn't had time to work. It's very expensive here ($600/month) but at least if it works, I will have some options.

Re: General thread

I click it to open and nothing happens - it won't open. I have been trying every day for about a week.
I guess if it is just me then I can start looking from this end.
Thanks for responding.

I haven't been able the 'General' thread for about a week. I wondered whether others were also having difficulty.

Re: Question about ms and heat exposure.

It is related to core body temperature. If the exposure to heat is short enough to not raise body temperature, then there is no problem.
Every time my body temperature is sufficiently raised, my symptoms get a lot worse, but as soon as I cool down I'm fine again.

Re: Results from our Red Wine experiment....

I've always privately felt that red wine is beneficial. It certainly doesn't do any harm. Only good red though. Try some West Australian red from Margaret River or Mt Barker, that is particularly good.
