In what I will try to call "typical" MS, for which I know there is no typical... is it "typical" for MS MRI lesions to persist forever, or are they known to appear and disappear?
thanks

Tysabri Suspension - after shocks will be?
So what's next? Our Neuro, when trying to tell my wife to get on Tysabri, more or less said that we now know that the interferons weren't much use. Luckily, she got pregnant, so the decision was postponed until the fall of 2005 after birth. Now what? I think you'll see a lot of patients go back thei...

and the blood brain barrier, too??
see this link:

Earlier research conducted by Dr. Fasano discovered that zonulin is also involved in the regulation of the impenetrable barrier between the blood stream and the brain, known as the blood-brain barrier.

can someone help translate this into English?
I can recognize when I am over my head! Please help me understand this: Antibodies against OspA epitopes of Borrelia burgdorferi cross-react with neural tissue http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6T03-4DWHHVR-2&_coverDate=02%2F01%2F2005&_alid=239213024&_rdoc=1&a...

Why?
For example with LDN, not everyone is having success with their neuro or PCP to get it prescribed. There are instructions to make your own, so it's out there as an option.

meds - going it alone
This is not an endorsement of any kind of self medication. But let's face it - it's there as an option. One could always order LDN or minocycline from overseas over the web.

Many Roads to Dublin
I think it's more interesting due to a common thread of auto-immune (sometime? often-times?) of many flavors is due to one or more pathogens.
The road to clearing those pathogens maybe different.

why D?
These pathogens then stimulate Nuclear-Factor-kappaB in the cytoplasm to release mRNA from the nucleus. This triggers a Th1 cytokine cascade. Additionally, the production of ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) is stimulated which converts inert angiotensin I to usable angiotensin II, for which thes...

combo?
Then I wonder... to cover one's bases... What would a combo of antegren (just can't get myself to sue the new name) and an abx (say, minocycline for infection and/or MMP9 downregulation and/or microglial deactivation). Take out 2 (potential) dominoes. Who knows? But let's say one had an infectious c...

MMP9 upregulated in both sero-positive and sero-negative LD patients.
Hmmm... points back to our friend minocycline again.

lid on the debate
"the study will most likely put the lid on the debate"
Darn tootin! Of course it'll be 2 years from now, but this is exciting in that it could possibly disprove the autoimmune theory.

Sort of OT - Wife is pregnant
A little off topic, but I have to type it because there's no one around to yap to. My wife is RRMS, I would say very slightly worsening RRMS. But in the grand scheme of things, we're good. We have 2 boys. She stopped avonex in the summer for various reasons. We've been doing a lot of soul searching ...
