Re: Ehlers-Danlos Sydrome, Doctor says too old to have ms

Get a new doctor ASAP. Too old. A load of crap. You are never too old to be diagnosed with MS. I was diagnosed in 2004 at the very young age of 50. The neoro's did a very careful clinical review of my medical history and determined that an episode that occurred when I was only 20 was in fact the ons...

Re: Question about treatment without MRI info.

I believe the basic purpose of these multiple MRI's is primarily to enrich the service providers and the referring doc's. When my family doctor suspected I might have MS he sent me for an MRI and referred me to a neuro. The radiologists looked at the MRI and said yes, MS. The neuro looked at the MRI...

Re: Suicide

I can only echo the sentiments of the other respondents. You clearly seem to be in need of real help; first for your physical symptoms and secondly for your mental symptoms. Suicide is an end but it is not a solution. We are all affected by the actions of one. We need you. We all need each other. Pl...

Re: Should I take drugs or not?

Not always an easy decision. I have RRMS with a fairly mild burden of disease. We share many symptoms. I was diagnosed in 2004 and have been taking REBIF ever since. I have had no major or debilitating relapses in that time. Is that because of the REBIF. I don't know but I'm not yet willing to take ...

Re: Does anyone take Effexor (venlafaxine) for depression?

Yes, I did take it for a time. It is a bit of a nasty drug as I recall. You have to titrate up to your optimal dose and then if you decide to stop taking it you have to be weaned off. While it is still available, the same firm has a newer (and more expensive) drug called Pristiq which I currently ta...

Re: Refused MRI

I understand that Canadians are frequently deficient. lyndacarol: Excuse me!!!! Canadians are NOT deficient - our Vit D levels can run on the low side however. Pistachio: Get thee to an MRI and do it NOW (depending on where you are it could take months from the time of request to the time of scan) ...

Re: Male Cath Question....

If this Detrol causes you problems ask your Dr. for Toviaz. Same class of drug from the same pharma. I have been taking it since my prostate surgery in December and have not had any problem with it - pharmacist told me i should always take it a night to avoid drowsiness issues.

If you're only 19 then we can pretty safely rule out prostate issues - and that's a good thing!

Re: Urination Difficulties & Time

A couple of suggestions. The first requires giving up a little of your 'masculinity'. Don't stand, sit. It is a more relaxed position and if your body is more relaxed, your bladder may be as well. It is easier to be patient when you are sitting than when you are standing. Secondly, don't try to star...

Re: Rebif and depression

Your doctor is sort-of right. Side effects do usually show up fairly quickly BUT the degree or severity does change over time. That may be what has happened to you. One bad day a little while after starting REBIF (I've been on it for over 10 years) and you don't pay it much attention. You might not ...

Re: Rebif and Red Spots

Inject slowly. If you inject quickly, the very small size of the Rebif needle makes the serum stream act like a cutting torch inside your body. Won't do anything for the red spots but it may seriously cut down on the pain.

Could be something as simple as a kidney stone on the move. They cause massive amounts of back pain, usually on just one side - for obvious reasons.

Re: Starting Rebif..and an anti-depressant?

I was on Rebif for many years with no other medications. I started to get very irritable, snapping at people for the least little thing. Then someone told me that was an MS symptom - as well as depression. It could be the Rebif or it could be the MS. My GP prescribed Pristiq and that has nicely reso...

Re: Possible Symptoms at 25?

I don't know how medicine works in Australia, but here in Canada imaging diagnostics done at a hospital, including MRI's, are reviewed by the radiology staff first. Their report is non-biased as they don't practice in any branch of medicine other than diagnostics and they never actually see patients.

To add to the above, take the ibuprofen about half an hour BEFORE the shot.
