Hi, there! I haven't posted here in ages, but I still lurk now and again. This thread on complement and C1q caught my eye. I did some research into this myself back in 2004. See the thread: http://www.thisisms.com/ftopict-433-c1q.html The whole research I did begins with PTX3 and how it pertains to ...

I'm a little late chiming in here (as if anybody really wants me to anyway), but every time something like this (problem with Rituxan) comes up long after I expressed my doubts and why and been chastised by others to the point of me just finally giving up and going away, I can't help but pop back in...

Hi, Harry and Ewizabeth! Well, as Harry knows (and you will, too, Ewizabeth if you go back and read some of our prior "warning" posts on here back in 2004 - or was it 2005 - about Tysabri), all I can say is "Amen!" to both of your sentiments here. All I can do now is sit back hel...

Hello there, Ian! :D Yes, I'm still lurking in the backgrounds. I jump on and review the threads on this website every so often. I just don't post. And I guess you could definitely say I'm still involved in the MS cause, but again, much more in the background these days. I found it coincident...

Yep. Sure was, Harry! The one we were saying "Wait, wait! Slow down!"

Oh well, I'm used to not being listened to. Hence my last two divorces!

The only thing that has actually been FDA approved for treatment of progressive types of MS is Novantrone (chemotherapy drug). Neuros will try other things, but there isn't much of anything out there for actual therapy of the pure progressive types of MS (with no definable relapses or inflammation)....

Conditions under which Tysabri will come back to market

I posted this in another thread just now, but figured it might need it's own thread. This is a March 27th update regarding the return of Tysabri: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/tysabri_march8.asp Excerpt: "....Its key recommendations for approval include: • Tysabri be made available only to p...

Ok...UPDATE!

Anyone seen this yet? Apologies if it has already been posted, but note the criteria that will come along with prescribing Tysabri.

amelia........Note in this, also, where it says it will be prescribed ONLY to RRMS patients.

Determining the relative risks and benefits for Tysabri is a complicated matter. There are data that are being considered by the Advisory Panel that have not generally been in the public domain. Yeah, well, don't overlook THAT above statement, either! How much does the public really know in order t...

That's correct, Harry. Only RRMS has an "inflammatory" process with it. SPMS and PPMS do not include inflammation, so any drugs that work via mechanisms of decreasing or affecting inflammation will be, for the most part, useless for the progressive forms of MS. Hence why research with rega...

I suspect that one of the problems with helping neuropathy in MS is because of the interactions of the drugs. Diabetic and fibromyalgia neuropathies are helped quite a lot by adding an anti-depressant (usually a tri-cylic of some kind). The same thing would probably hold true for MS, also, BUT the d...

This whole thing makes me ill (again). Here is why: Simply put: As I have unpopularly opined in the past, messing with mab's is a scary proposition (at least to me, it is). To quote from the article(s) below with regard to TGN1412: ..."There is an inflammatory process going on that seems to hav...

Ok............I also read very closely the actual study article. What they did was test "sub-optimal" doses of the combination of the two drugs, just to see if it would be worth following up on. They did test the combination on EAE mice, but once again, according to the overall focus of th...

NHE, For what it is worth, here is what I am seeing lately with all of this newer data coming forth. The key word in that sentence is "established" MS. If you watch and read closely, you will find that there is more concentration now on treating "probable MS" and CIS (clinically ...
