Re: Bruising/redness site reactions

Hi dairygold, I was on Rebif for about three years and can relate with the bruising. I first stopped using the Rebiject, as the action was like using a jack hammer! I ended up having my husband give me the injections as well as doing some myself. That reduced a good deal of bruising and pain. Second...

Re: Cognitive / simple thinking issues

Hi Kevin- I suffer from cognitive issues myself. I sound like a total drunkard at times as I tend to slur my speech. I also have the "deer in the headlights" look when someone wants a fast answer. It's even worse when I'm hot. It takes a bit for things to process, though the info is still ...

Re: Tremors

Loriyas,

What dosage of the propanolol do you take? I found it efficacious, but I had to stop taking it as it cancelled out the benefits of the Ampyra I am on. Having better balance vs. reducing my tremor- isn't this a fun disease...

Re: Diagnosed Hello All! Any help for ophthalmoplegia?

Hi Mark- I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. This is a good place to research and vent if need be. That being said, I've had my share of eye problems. I've had Optic Neuritis, bilateral inferior hemianopia and double vision to name a few. My eyes are usually the first thing to go south with a major...

Re: baclofen

Thank you for the post Scott1! I think Baclofen is a good drug if you choose to go that route. That was interesting what you said about dosing. I stopped taking it as it made me dizzy and seemed to counteract what I was trying to achieve. I admit I am more sensitive to those type of drugs and I pref...

Re: baclofen

Hi Cas- I took Baclofen a couple years ago for spasticity in my right foot and it made me loopy. I've had my share of back problems over the years and one way I deal with it is gentle exercise. I try to do it as soon as I get up in the morning and it helps a lot. I also use a TENS unit for pain (I h...

Re: TENS Therapy

The pads/electrodes are placed near the herniated disc area between my L4 and L5 vertebrae and about a quarter inch on either side of the spine. I have it set for thirty minute intervals and my body seems happy with that duration. I will also explore the acupressure approach, as I'm certain it will ...

TENS Therapy

Hello All- Has anyone tried using TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation)? A friend brought over a TENS device for me to try out to alleviate pain from this lovely herniated disc between the L4 and L5 region of my back. Lo and behold the sucker works! Not only does it help with pain abate...

Re: New to Tecfidera

I've been on Tecfidera for close to three years now and thankfully, have had no relapses and side effects are minimal if not non-existent. I find taking it with food staves off any gastrointestinal reactions. When I don't, I pay the price in the morning with diarrhea. My most recent MRIs (cranial, c...

Re: Choosing Meds - Insurance Issues?

Littlestbabie, I understand the insurance conundrum you are in. I had to wait an additional four months in waiting for the government to put Tecfidera on their formulary. If you are concerned about insurance issues, I think Biogen-Idec who makes Tecfidera will work with you. You may also want to con...

Re: Anyone with standing, laying, sitting issues?

StaryNight, Have you ever had a lumbar MRI done? I've had some of the same issues and it turns out I have a herniated disc between my L4 and L5 vertebrae. I now sleep with a pillow between my knees so my hips et all are more aligned. It's awkward at first, but I sleep better. When I sit, I also have...

Re: Tecfidera & Constipation?

I've been on Tecfidera for about two years myself and am not aware that constipation is a side effect. It is not uncommon for MS sufferers to experience constipation and it may not be drug related. I have noticed that I have slight problems with constipation that coincide directly with my period, us...

Re: Dont grouse, degauss. If you cant chillout, chelate!

I just despise those giving false hope to people that really need it. Being homeless taught me that. I agree with Elliot- I don't rule out the possibility of a cure. I think a lot of us understand the complexity of this disease and the science behind finding a cure. Using a pendulum to decide what t...

Re: Dont grouse, degauss. If you cant chillout, chelate!

If ANYONE says they can "cure" you, run far and fast away from them!!! Last I checked there is no cure for MS and just because you're in remission with few symptoms doesn't mean you're suddenly disease-free. If so, I have several bridges to sell you...

Re: Contact sports and MS

I feel for you and your son. This wonderful disease has caused a lot of us to make lifestyle changes, as our bodies just don't work the same as they used to. From personal experience, it doesn't necessarily require a contact sport to be hard on the body. For years, I used to do kickboxing. I broke m...
