Has anyone been covered by Horizon BCBS (NJ)

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield is one of the BCBS that has not officially stated they aren't covering it. They have also said they don't do predetermination for this procedure (I tried to get them to do that last month). Originally back in the spring, they had indicated they were going to cover it r...

I have Horizon BC/BS and spoke to someone there yesterday. She said the same thing Cece is saying. Even though they are separate legal entities, the BC/BS where the doctor is located is the one that handles the billing. So unless Dr. Sclafani plans to move, those of us with BC/BS will have to pay ou...

Cece, Thank you for such a thorough response. I thought you hadn't mentioned anything about sedation. I don't remember the part about not being able to feel things inside veins. Somehow I missed that and I thought I had read every one of Dr. Sclafani's posts. That is quite a relief! I don't have the...

What kind of sedation?

Cece, I know Dr. Sclafani needs to keep the patient pretty alert during the procedure. Can you tell me what kind of sedation was used when he did yours? Could you feel the catheter moving around your veins? Was it painful, and if so was it only when he expanded the balloons? (can you tell I'm a bit ...

It's not the D3 that we take

Read Cheer's reply on tootzi's thread http://www.thisisms.com/ftopict-16158.html She explains it was a different type of vitamin D given to the mice for this study than what we take and she has a link to a very recent article about the importance of D to the health of veins. Ashton Embry has done to...

Collateral veins post-ccsvi treatment

Dr. Sclafani, I was diagnosed RRMS 14 years ago, but looking back realize I've had ms since I was 16 (I'm 44). The first 6 or 7 years after diagnosis I had a worse time of it, but things have settled down and my biggest problems are bladder related and constant pain/spasticity in my legs for which I...

Any idea when you will start treating CCSVI patients again?

Dr. Sclafani, I have decided to wait until you are treating again to get the CCSVI procedure done (I am on your waiting list) because I feel you are one of the best to do this, I live close by in NJ and I've been pretty stable MS-wise for several years and not going downhill rapidly. But like everyo...
