Dr Sclafani, I just had my 3 month ultrasound. My procedure was done in 2 stages, one week apart. While doing the second procedure for the RJV the venogram showed that the LJV that was done the week before with 18 mm balloon had restenosed and clotted. He attempted to re-balloon without any success...

heat in back, chest discomfort & bladder retention probl

drsclafani, I don't know if you remember my case. I had 2 procedures done back in January with Dr. Mehta. I came off of warifin on April 12th after 2 months. On the 12th the US said I had flow, but couldn't tell me how much. On May 6th I needed to go on solumedrol (3 days) with a 12 day taper. I see...

You are indeed fortunate that your thrombosis was able to reverse itself while on coumadin. Often, occlusion of the jugular vein is a permanent thing. You might not have had such an outcome if this vein had been the second vein treated rather than the first one. I think that the ultrasound examinat...

The juries still out on improvements. Warifin can give you side effects and I'm hoping that these are some of the things that I'm experiencing...fatigue and leg weakness. I've been SPMS for the last, I don't know 8 years and was diagnosed RRMS in 1979. I wasn't expecting any quick symptom fixes, but...

Dr. Mehta is a very capable vascular surgeon with a lot of experience. His facilities and personel for CCSVI are impressive. If you're without a participating insurance company it could get rather expensive though. I had two procedures done there and the charge would have been approximately $15,000 ...

Post-venoplasty, though, the jugulars should be wide open and we want them to stay open. With the bed flat, that would require flow to go through the jugulars which would keep them the widest during that stretch of night. By having the bed flat in an attempt to maximize flow through the jugulars at...

* not doing a repeat procedure but putting the patient on strong anticoagulants (coumadin or lovenox) so that the clot does not worsen (because without anticoagulation the presence of a clot will encourage further clotting as the bloodstream hits against the clot) and the body gets a chance to reca...

DrCumming, The clotting was discovered during the second procedure , so it was discovered 7 days after the first procedure. I'm sure I anticoagulated during the procedure, heperin I think? I was also taking an 81 mg aspirin 5 days before the first procedure and am still taking. Unfortunately I won't...

Dr. Sclafani, No a stent wasn't used. He mentioned to me as I was laying there that his options were that he may have to stent later on or do some type of bypass procedure around the clot doing surgery at the neck. Just an after thought, but wouldn't it be wise to use a blood thinner in all cases fo...

Procedure done last week, now clotting

I had my first procedure done last Monday, left jugular and azycos chest vein. I went for second procedure today to have right jugular done. It was discovered that my left jugular had clotted and was showing colatterals for the blood flow. I asked my Doctor last week if he used blood thinners, and h...

I live in Albany, NY and work for the state. My insurance is United Health Care. They preapproved the procedure that I'm gonna be having next Monday (1/10) with Dr. Mehta of the Vascular Group. He requires two procedures, so I guess that's what my insurance will be picking up. There's normaly a copa...

Great news Kaboodah! You mentioned that you'll be going in for the second procedure on the 30th, so I assume they ballooned one JV and will do the other one next, along with the azogos if needed? I think that's Dr. Mehta's protocol. I guess things could improve even more! Glad to here it wasn't bad....
