Re: The Driscoll Theory explains all of my health problems

Everyone's dose is different. A good urologist or nephrologist is essential. Maybe this will help: http://prettyill.com/videos/watch/lets_ ... out_diamox

Re: The Driscoll Theory explains all of my health problems

Hi magoo, Although I haven't been active on this thread lately, I popped on briefly and saw your post! I HAD to tell you that you are certainly not alone. There are so many MS patients who have connective tissue disorders, but are never diagnosed (90% of us are never diagnosed). Unfortunately, my so...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Hello all, Dr. Sal, You may remember my lecture (WAY BACK WHEN) ;) concerning looking for evidence of CCSVI in the fundus of the eye that I presented at your conference? I found this dissertation I thought you may be interested in. What I wanted to be sure you knew, was that I learned that looking ...

Re: Hughes syndrome - misdiagnosed as MS

When studying the fundus of patients' eyes, some folks sent me photos (the best were electronic), but one set, even though the images were lousy, screamed "Hughes Syndrome"! This is an appearance that once you see (as an eye doctor), you never forget. The vessels turn a pretty salmon, pin...

Re: Hughes syndrome - misdiagnosed as MS

Hi all, Although not on the forum much, please know that I am working like crazy behind the scenes! I popped on for one reason, but then saw this post, so I digress for a moment. When studying the fundus of patients' eyes, some folks sent me photos (the best were electronic), but one set, even thoug...

Re: retinal venules

It does seem complicated, and as always I am thrilled to have an expert weigh in. I get daily Medpage emails, I think that's where this article turned up. :) Here's an image showing how retinal blood vessels are measured. The blue the ones would be the venules. http://circimaging.ahajournals.org/co...

http://www.sci-news.com/othersciences/psychology/article01130-eye-blood-iq.html “It’s remarkable that venular caliber in the eye is related, however modestly, to mental test scores of individuals in their 30s, and even to IQ scores in childhood,” Dr Idan Shalev and colleagues said. The findings sug...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Cece, Until genes are located, I continue to think in terms of those "focal" changes that cheer referred to. That doesn't sound like a genetic collagen disorder. Interestingly, numerous patients with EDS (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) have no gene for a collagen disorder, either! Yet we develop ...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Thank you so much, Cheer! Somehow I missed that this (likely) change to collagen III was a 'focal' change! One minor correction, if memory serves me right, there are tons of smooth muscle cells around arteries, but very few around veins... If this is indeed a change in collagen (perhaps with a genet...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Thank you so much, Dr. S! If you ever come across that genetics article, comparing the genes for collagen and MS, I'd LOVE to see it! (Unfortunately - ha), I'm being forced to delve into genetics, SNP's, etc. Ugh. As you know, I'm trying to figure out MS by going through the 'back door' -- studying ...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Hi EJC, I'm not sure what you mean by eye "syndromes", but I know that many people have brighter, clearer vision even on the table when they have their CCSVI procedure. I *think* it is from two mechanisms: 1) The same hypoxia that affects the brain also affects the eyes. We can see that wh...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Hi Dr. Sal, Can I trouble you with two quick questions? I'd be so grateful for your input. 1) Did anyone ever determine why the collagen in the veins seemed to turn from collagen 1 to collagen 3? Do you know if there is a similar change in something like pelvic congestion syndrome? 2) Has anyone eve...

Re: Sticky blood -- can I see the back of your eyes?

Hi Blossom, I have PERSONAL interest in NPH (a family member went undiagnosed for years, even though the MRI CLEARLY exhibited NPH). :( I wasn't able to open the link you had, though... I'm focusing my efforts now on pushing through my treatment trials, so I do need to FOCUS. In likely order, we'll ...

Re: Sticky blood -- can I see the back of your eyes?

Is there any other name by which a "fundus" goes by? Hmm, besides "George" and the occasional "Betty", "fundi" is usually best (sorry, couldn't resist). It's basically a detailed picture (photo) of the back of your eyes. The OCT is a bit different. Most eye d...
