Re: Researchers identify potassium channel as an MS autoanti
Ampyra is a potassium channel blocker, isn't it? Maybe I'm getting this backward but from what I'm reading here it seems Ampyra goes against this discovery. From the Ampyra website: "How is AMPYRA thought to help? In MS, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the protective coating around...

Re: Will the real multiple sclerosis please stand up?
I don't beleive that the end point of PPMS (or any other type for that matter) means you will have dissability in all of these functional areas, but these are the functions that effect people with MS generally. Here is a better explanation:

Re: Will the real multiple sclerosis please stand up?
“I guess we have no choice, do we? I mean, there is so much push and pressure,” Dr. Peter Stys, a professor of clinical neuroscience and an MS researcher at the University of Calgary says of the money being poured into CCSVI research at record speed. Stys does not deal directly with MS patients but...

Re: Ann Romney used Chemo therapy for her MS??
That's a great time to start. Halting further progression is the key but many people have an EDSS reduction by a couple points within a few years. You are very lucky to be in this trial. Best of luck.

Hi Scott1, Dr. Burts phase III FDA trial has a lot of promise which appears to be the case of the person shown in your link. there is a new facebook site dedicated to people who have gone through the MIST trial as well as HALT-MS (which is also entering phase III) and also BEAM treatments overseas. ...

Re: Ann Romney used Chemo therapy for her MS??
The idea behind using chemotherapy is to reset the faulty immune system back to a naive state to eliminate the memory mechanisms that are believed to cause MS. There are currently different approaches to this in various protocols, but chemotherapy is the unifying concept. The methods range from comp...

Re: How likely will there be a cure for MS within the next 1
Hello chrishasms, I just recently found out about Hi-Cy and have interest in it. You say you re-activated but have no new lesions or atrophy but are taking steroids to keep it at bay. What do you mean by re-activation? Has your EDSS score increased? Also you say you cannot have it again, but is this...

Re: Rebooting Immune System at Johns Hopkins
Thanks George, As usual you have investigated all options with much detail. I think the best hope in my view is HSCT prior to becoming progressive, but it will be a while before it is accepted treatment availabe to all. Edit: After thinking about what you wrote about these agents, it seems it might ...

Re: Rebooting Immune System at Johns Hopkins
No doubt George, but before HSCT becomes approved for MS treatment I would be willing to take a gamble with Hi-Cy to hopefully stop from transitioning to secondary progressive. Especially if it is affordable. It seems the FDA has already approved this for two other autoimmune diseases. Im going to k...
