Conference

I'm planning to attend. I live in Connecticut so it will be a day trip for me. I'm interested in learning about new treatments. My left jugular is occuluded from a thrombosis on one of my three stents. Since my right jugular opened successfully I have no MS symptoms. But if I experience restenosis I...

My Thyroid changed after CCSVI

My ultrasound the day after my venoplasty did not show any thyroid abnormality. My 3 month follow-up did. I don't have my blood results yet and will have another ultrasound next week. I'm sure that I was sub-clinical for thyroid dysfunction and the procedure may have caused some inflammation. My mot...

Epstein-Barr Virus

I had EBV in college. I am a chronic carrier. I was exposed to two students at the college where I teach with active EBV and my titer shot up to 3 times normal. My neuro prescribed Acyclovir 800 mg 2 X day.

Cytoxan

I'm glad you are getting great information to make your treatment choices. I was given Cytoxan in 2007 during a particularly bad relapse. I took it for about a year for 4 days once a month. It really helped me. I wish I had followed it up with Copaxone, rather than Betaseron. I'd rather have another...

Xifaxan and Bacterial Overgrowth

I am just amazed there is a connection with MS. I was tested with the Hydrogen Breath test 12 months ago for a myriad of GI discomforts. They stopped the testing after 30 minutes because the hydrogen was off the chart. So to treat my "bad" hydrogen forming bacteria I take daily Xifaxan and...

Tumeric (Curcumin)

A recent paper has a good review of the studies on curcumin (tumeric) and its effect on insulin. This was an in vivo rat model. Mohamed Abdel Aziz;et al. Copaxone

I'm not ready to give up Copaxone until I have my one year follow-up MRI to compare to my research MRI performed at BNAC. The medical researcher I talked to at TEVA told me the strangest thing, he said "We really don't know how Copaxone works." That has me thinking...

CCSVI and Capaxone

I've seen many posts about people wanting to discontinue Capaxone after CCSVI. My response is that it is too soon to know. I called TEVA and talked with their medical research team. They did not have a positive view of CCSVI because the people they have spoken to did not have a positive response. So...

Nutmeg Nutritionist - Introduction

I am a Registered Dietitian from Connecticut and MS sufferer since 2006. I had CCSVI 6 weeks ago - so far so good. You may see me post when people are skeptical of CCSVI or promote some nutritional supplement. CCSVI is an emerging story. I hope there is a happy ending. I am not against supplements, ...

Cold Intolerance and CCSVI

I was diagnosed in 2006 but have had MS for probably 10+ years. It is 6 weeks after CCSVI and was able to go to Vermont (14 degrees below zero weather) for a dogsled ride. It never would have happened before. My toes are warm and I actually am too hot at night for a down comforter. I will have to pu...
