Re: Tecfidera vs no med

I am in the same position with my MS and treatment course, although I took rebif for a year. My MRI is always bad with new lesions. I work every day, and I don't feel like the meds work all that well for the risks. I have met with four different neurologists, trying to gauge if I am crazy for not ta...

Re: BG12 ...compounding pharm

I'd be weary of a compounder in this situation. The BG12 is encoated to be absorbed after it passes the stomach. Does your compounder do microencapsulation or anything like that? DMF digested by stomach acid is different than DMF absorbed through the intestine. If the compounder is throwing a powder...

Re: Link made to retrovirus Herv-FC1 for RRMS and SPMS

The immune system depends on the thymus during maturation, up into a person's early twenties. Before then, we inherent our mother's immune system and the body uses the thymus to learn to program a new immune system. Many B-cells are defective. When the bad Bcell fails the thymus checkpoint, it is pr...

Re: Link made to retrovirus Herv-FC1 for RRMS and SPMS

These viruses fit the disease profile well. They attack B cells responsible for the immune system and how the body distinguishes between self and nonself. An infected B cell can repress the body's instructions for the cell to self destruction if it has been miscoded. Basically, if the cell had becom...

Re: If you had lesions on your brain MRI...

That it a neat article. Lesions suck. From what I know, the following is kind of a telltale pattern for MS, common but not exhaustive for MS. From jimmylegs' link. http://www.ajronline.org/na101/home/literatum/publisher/arrs/journals/content/ajr/2002/ajr.2002.179.issue-1/ajr.179.1.1790251/production...

I don't believe it's invented by big pharma but I align with your sentiment about drug pricing ethics or lack thereof.

Re: Please look at my MRI? Opinions please!

OPINION: ask your nuerologist. They should know the anatomy well enough to tell you if that's a piece of fat or a normal vein or a normal variation of a vein or possibly something else. They get the big money to tell you. Best of luck.

Re: JCV and BG-12

Anyone can read the paperwork that comes with their drugs and look online at some of the published whitepapers. BG-12 is extremely promising for neuroprotection and immune suppression. I quite am considering taking it myself. JC virus is slightly associated with dimethyl fumarate (DMF), but not at t...

Fibrinogen Level Tied to Poorer PCI Outcomes http://www.medpagetoday.com/Cardiology/PCI/36734 Thought that Clopidogrel (plavix) is still used by some docs . . in CCSVI venoplasty - but only after the procedure? Perhaps some prescribe for pre-procedure use? Pradaxa would have a similar effect re: fi...

Re: fibrinogen may be the trigger

I imagine that all sorts of things can cause leakage oc the BBB. Alergies, blood flow, viruses, drugs, vitamin deficiencies, fatty food, posture, trama, and things maybe other things. Any theory of MS could be strengthened from this article. The great thing about it is that there's a downstream link...

Re: Emotionally Dealing with Rebif

Unless one feels that acupuncture relieved a side effect of rebif, it should probably be discussed elsewhere.
