Re: 2 Years Post HSCT And MS Still Stopped

George, once again, thank you for providing all this information. your knowledge and resources are truly incredible. this quote was one of many that stood out to me, "Limited case series have reported a dramatic reduction in relapse in patients with SPMS following HSCT;24 however, there is currently...

Re: Relapses

i keep a spreadsheet of any symptoms or thoughts that i have for any given day. i'll track a start date and an end date if possible. after seeing my most recent mri and then looking at my spreadsheet i can tie some of my symptoms to specific lesions. i also email my spreadsheet to my doctor before o...

Re: i met with my neuro this week

well, i just met with my neuro again today after my second mri. i have two new lesions on my spine and a couple more in my brain. one was quite large. i have no real clinical signs of the lesions, so i'm doing ok. it is concerning how quickly or how much new activity i've had...above the norm. after...

Re: 2 Years Post HSCT And MS Still Stopped

the ASTI trial is an international trial. where are the procedures taking place? do you think dr Burt is trying to achieve the best results he can in order to move this thru FDA approval and in doing so, with rrms patients, the percentage of successful procedures will be higher and therefore look be...

Re: 2 Years Post HSCT And MS Still Stopped

as i proceed down my 'road' this is certainly something i am thinking about. granted, i am currently rrms, but the thought of going thru hsct and then having to "possibly" go thru more treatment afterwards makes me think that the myeloblative is the best option. an issue of course is finding a reput...

Re: Stress

I am recently diagnosed and still learning. I was wondering if any of you believe that stress can cause flares to happen? i think it is a hard thing to nail down in a study. stress comes and goes throughout the day or week or month. although, i believe in my heart that it does play a role. then aga...

Re: Optic Neuritis

i had ON initially. my mri showed a lesion on my optic nerve that was causing the issue. it lasted about 4 weeks or so then is settled down. i would suggest checking with an MS neuro specialist before putting yourself thru a spinal. it appears by much of what i've read and my neuro that it isn't alw...

Re: Article responses on hsct?

CV and George,

thanks for everything you've just written and it does make a lot of sense. although, my science background is minimal, so my 'sense' is not the same as yours! :-D therefore, you're putting some sense into me!

Re: Article responses on hsct?

Asher, i didn't even get a chance to read the article yet. i was just going by the quotes listed, 'aggressive cases". why this cannot be open to whoever wants it is beyond me. i know the risks of HSCT, but i have no idea with my MS nor does anyone else. it is truly frustrating and just downright abs...

Re: Article responses on hsct?

interesting. my neuro said the exact opposite to me. she mentioned how it was similar to many of the drugs when they first came out. how they would treat and experiment with patients with higher disabilities and not the RRMS just newly diagnosed. she feels the HSCT is most likely more beneficial the...

Re: Number of Lesions when Diagnosised

I cannot answer that question other than what i have or had. my first MRI showed around 8-10 lesions in my brain and none on my spine. My second MRI from a couple weeks ago (which i have not seen) shows two lesions on my spine and one new one on my brain. From what i know, lesions on the spine are n...

Re: Does this sound right..?

i'm sorry. i often forget where i live as opposed to others. i'm in the NH boonies, but close to boston.

did they do the 'western blot' lyme test? it is a very tricky disease to find and eventually diagnose. there are informative threads in here regarding lyme also.

keep pushing forward!
