Re: waiting for confirmation dx with ms

No, I don't think the spinal tap was positive based on what she said that the spinal tap came back normal. I can't imagine she had a positive spinal tap for Lyme and then she had another spinal tap done. Only 8% of people with neuroborrelliosis test positive via a spinal tap. So, aside from the unre...

Re: waiting for confirmation dx with ms

Let me get this straight. You went to a regular neurologist who diagnosed you with Lyme and gave you doxycycline? What did he base the diagnosis on? Did you have a blood test (ELISA and WB or just ELISA)? This neurologist prescribed the doxy or did the infectious disease doctor prescribe the doxy? T...

Re: waiting for confirmation dx with ms

Jen, If you have a Lyme diagnosis, then you need a Lyme doctor. You are in the wrong forum. You must educate yourself about the controversy of Lyme disease. Have you read Dr. Burrascano's Lyme disease guidelines. Do you know the different opinions on treatment guidelines between ILADS vs. IDSA? Typi...

Re: Trying to Make Sense Out Of Odd Symptoms

anyone diagnosed with MS, and then discovers an unusual infection should always consider Lyme Disease + coinfections Bartonella and Babesia. Educate yourself about the controversy of Lyme. These infections mimic MS and the doctors won't diagnose Lyme due to fear of the medical boards. Testing for th...

Re: I might have MS? (mri pics included!)

do not ignore the possibility of tick borne diseases such as Lyme, bartonella and babesia. educate yourself about the lyme controversy and read Dr. Burrascano's guidelines. the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as the ones you listed are mostly immunosuppresive which may help initially but will ...

Re: Swollen painful glands anyone?

maybe the swollen glands is a sign of infection?! perhaps, that's why copaxone + minocycline has been proven to be better than copaxone alone in several studies.

Re: Adventures in Antibiotics

Ok, perhaps I am reading this wrong...but you said you took 10 days of doxy and on the 11th you ended up in the hospital. First, doxy is a bacteriostatic drug, it does not kill it stops the infection from reproducing in hopes that your immune system will take car of the rest. However, it is thought ...

Re: Adventures in Antibiotics

I'm no expert, nor do I have MS. However, based on my cousin who was diagnosed in 1996 with MS and became deathly sick in 2008 when we discovered he tested positive for CPN, Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, Mycoplasma Pn. and EBV. He started treatment with minocycline 100mg twice daily then double it and ...

Re: I have definitely progressed while on LDN

Kate, I don't have MS but I do have a very close cousin that was misdiagnosed with MS in 1996 when it was really Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia and Cpn and Mycoplasma Pn. We discovered this in 2009. He was really declining rapidly and we found a doctor who presrcibed minocyline + copaxone based on Dr. Me...

Re: Husband of an MS patient

Good article Jimmylegs. Just one question ...How can you ever rule out a lyme infection when there is a 60% chance of a false negative? And this comes from Johns Hopkins! You have to understand the lyme disease two tiered testing and the ridiculous CDC (Dearborn Criteria) required bands on a WB whic...

Re: Husband of an MS patient

What is MS? MS or Multiple Sclerosis means 'many scars'. That's it. There is no test for it, it is a clinical diagnosis based on an MRI of white matter lesions. Lyme disease can cause the same white matter lesions and the same symptoms. Anyone who thinks MS symptoms and Neuro-Lyme symptoms are diffe...
