Re: My Doctor's Opinion
Former MD shrank away in horror at any mention of the dreaded weed so I began looking for a new one, Was told by the only neuro I saw during my one and only (will never go again) at the local MS clinic that maijuana would rot my brain and then made some derogatory remark like "Mediacl Marijuana...

Re: Acupunture
I've had acupuncture done by a physical therapist/acupuncture practitioner at the local MS Society and it has done wonders for a sciatic type pain/ low back pain/pirisformis pain that flare up fom time to time. I was skeptical at the outset but each time it has relieved the pain almost immediately. ...

Re: MS prognosis
Had a single MS-like event (was told It was a virus by a neuro - guess I should thank him as I lived w/o a shadow of MS for all those years) almost 30 years ago and then nothing that stopped me getting on with my life until 2005. And now I've been told I have SPMS with increased walking/spasticity d...

I've read something about vitamin D absorption being enhanced as well by small amounts of vitamin K, boron amd vitamin A - a daily all purpose vitamin/mineral supplement.
I wish jimmylegs or one of the other nutrition gurus was around to help us out here.

Re: leg stiffness/pain
I take magnesium 1200mg, 1500mg calcium which has helped with spasms. Wine is wonderful to relax helps with all manner of problems - a glass or two in the evening is great. White or red does it for me as long as it's not sweet. I'm in Canada so medical marijuana is an option and the stuff does help ...

Re: How did you doctor tell you that you have MS?
Ya think ?????Some dr's have ZERO bedside manner and have no business being in the health care profession.
I wish that there was a mandatory course for bedside manner in medical school that all dr's would have to pass before they were unleashed on the unsuspecting public.

Re: What kind of ms do you have
My 1st episode (undiagnosed) was close to 30 years ago, having little or no effects until the last 5 years and my diagnosis in September was SPMS. I have suffered from vertigo, had some speech problems, tinnitus, optic issues and the odd minor cognitive issue but my main problem is with spasticity i...

So refreshing to see work on MS other than the old autoimmune stuff which continues to give encouragement to big pharma with their multi billion dollar disease modifying drug profits that fill their pockets and those of thousands of MS doctors.

Re: How many had Back Problems before being diagnosed with M
Oh yes, definitely, I had a lot of low back pain. I had back strains from bad lifting incidents so my GP kept sending me for MRIs of my lower back despite all the other symptoms I had and talked about.
Also had whiplash & concussion from a nasty car accident.

Re: Lhermitte's sign
I have Lhermitte's and was told that of a possible thoracic lesion. No one is interested in doing another MRI to be definite so I just carry on. Don't expect any better from the medical people around here.

Re: How did you doctor tell you that you have MS?
How was I told that I had MS. Let me think...it was so wonderful - not! I got home on a Friday to find a message from the neuro asking me to call for an appointment so he could discuss the results of my brain scan. Too late to call back, so I was going to call back Monday. Early Monday morning while...

Let's hope we're going to see a whole lot more studies on diet and how it relates to MS!

Oh wow, nooper, I can so empathize with you on the vertigo!
I had a horrible bout with it last December but it did eventually clear up and I haven't had anything like that since.
Hoping it goes the same for you.
