Re: Sports with spinal lesion?

I was curious if anyone has any experience with spinal lesions and sports. I currently play Ice hockey (non-checking so no hitting), and my neuro has told me to stay off skates until I start the meds. I can't get a clear answer as to why. Is a lesion the same as a spinal injury, where a fall can ma...

Re: another ccsvi study finds no link

Recently there has been focus on the grey matter where some researchers feel the real secret to MS hides. Fix the problem in the grey matter and possibly fix the MS. Yet the trials and studies continue to be about the white matter and the docs, trying to attack other docs work, continue to center o...

Re: Lhermitte's sign. Is it a relapse?

euphoniaa has a very good point, even if she didn't put it this way: the radiologist's written report is what you should be looking at. The MRI itself is pretty much useless without the report or the training needed to properly interpret the pictures (thus, the specialty of radiology). Even the writ...

Re: MS????

I want all info I can get so I can bring this up to the Neuro. The only info you need to bring to the neuro is a detailed list of your symptoms (including when you first felt each symptom and any changes/events that trigger the symptoms) and copies of any MRI reports, blood tests, etc. that you've ...

Re: MS Specialist or Neurologist?

Yep! That's the kind of place you want to check out: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/oke/programs--services/ms-center-of-oklahoma/index.aspx Maybe someone here already goes there? I've been in the SF Bay area since '84 (San Mateo since '93), and I consider myself very fortunate. Stanford i...

Re: MS Specialist or Neurologist?

Welcome! I started with a general neuro who was OK, but after getting a 2nd opinion (twice! he was eager to dx me ) from the Stanford U. MS clinic I switched to the neuro I saw there. I like that they're up on of the latest research and I can call, email or see the NP between appointments and ...

Re: Why not butt area for injection?

I keep track of injection sites by writing dates on copies of the SS 'map', but I've also been using an Android app (phone or tablet) called MedNotesPlus. It's easy and quick, and you can also use it for med- and symptom-tracking notes. I'm probably going to quit the paper tracking soon.... https://...

Re: lesions

I have a 9-11mm lesion in my C-spine (C2, I think) that is apparently responsible for my whole-skin paresthesia. I've never even imagined I could 'feel' the lesion in any way. The way you talk about it makes me think you ought to see a physiatrist to make sure you don't also have a musculoskeletal p...

Re: Brand New to MS

Welcome, and sorry you've joined this club, Jen. It's not uncommon to be dazed by the diagnosis for quite a while. [...] She sent me to a neurologist. I wasn't expecting much.. I thought maybe he'd order more tests.. but they did a general exam and he reviewed my MRI, and soon enough he was telling ...

Re: First time posting, hope someone can help.

An MRI with contrast determines which lesions are "active" (or "new"), but all lesions that are large enough will show up on an MRI, with or without contrast. The only important parts about active lesions are whether steroids can still help (if the exacerbation is serious) and - for dx purposes - wh...

euphoniaa,

I've known for years that my purpose in life is to keep doctors busy but obviously I've been slacking, compared to you!

Take a week off, already, will ya?

Stay as well as possible,
Mark

I'm convinced that some of us have been put on this earth just to give doctors something interesting to do.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Why would sodium be more likely to build up than any other element dissolved in the blood?

Re: Think I may have MS

I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance that at least (for the time being) I'm not being irrational that this could be MS. Some or all of your symptoms *could* be from MS (and I agree the pituitary guess sounds pretty unlikely), but MS isn't the only thing that messes with nerves and you shou...
