Re: Have not started yet.

I have been accepted into the Ocrevus trial. I am having a tetanus shot because I am due. I am also getting my varicella antibodies tested to see if an immunization is in order. Apparently, while on Ocrevus my ability to make antibodies will be diminished.

Re: New MS diagnosis

I have RRMS. As far as I can tell I have had just the one attack which I thought was a lower back problem. There have been other lesions, but only 1 attack that affected me.

Re: How long did it take you to be diagnosed with MS?

My earliest symptoms were very mild, just some numbness in my left thumb and forefinger. I went to my doctor about it because I thought it might be just a pinched nerve in my neck which could be corrected. My doc said let's just keep an eye on it. If it gets worse come back. So 2 years later it was...

Re: Teachers with MS

If it helps, I have not told my daughter. She is 5 so I don't think she would understand. Partially, I don't want her to treat me differently. I want her to jump on me like always and I don't want her to be afraid of hurting me. I have only told my parents, my Sensei, my professors and immediate fam...

Re: FDA approves its first drug for PPMS patients

I will let you know. I had my appointment with my doc last week and while they recommended Tsyabri, I was nervous about the side effects. I asked about Ocrevus and they agreed. She is even trying to get me into the trial which should help with the costs. I have never been treated for MS before which...

Re: Have not started yet.

I am still trying to decide if we ended up steering the conversation toward Plegridy and Tysabri before we knew the difference. I think during the diagnosis meeting we were a little overwhelmed with how it would affect our busy lives. We are both in school and work full-time w/overtime or multiple j...

Re: Have not started yet.

I am really thankful for my mild symptoms. I want to stay mildly symptomatic for as long as possible. I am just wondering what questions I should ask when at my next appointment. I saw Tsyabri could cause PML through the BBB. At least the way I was reading it. I am also concerned with the immune sup...

Re: Have not started yet.

So far my life has not been impacted greatly by my symptoms. Just restless legs at times and the numbness/loss of coordination.

My symptoms are very mild. They found 4 lesions in my thoracic spine and 3 in my brain.

My diagnosis is Multiple Sclerosis, Relapsing-remitting.

Have not started yet.

I am currently taking 50,000 IU of D 2 x/week. B complex, and Fish oil 3, 6, 9. My JCV test came back borderline positive. I am eligible for Tsyabri, and I am considering Plegerdy. Is there anything else I should consider. I will of course check with the Doc at my appointment in a couple of weeks. I...

My sense of humor.

I am not sure I should let my sense of humor out here. I can best describe it as shockingly disturbing. I keep it under wraps so I don't offend people.

Re: New MS diagnosis

Hi, The solumedrol is a short term, very standard way to deal with an obvious inflammation. You wont be on it for long. It can make you appear a bit hyper although you don't notice it. It's a transitory effect. The other it thing can do, subject to the dose, is make you feel a bit like a diabetic ....

BJJ- There is no way I could remain vertical if I removed one of my feet from the ground in an effort to kick anything above knee height. The thing that gets me is the heat, grappling with someone while wearing a GI can drive the temp up fast. I agree with you on the sweating. I sweat like a pig an...

Re: New MS diagnosis

My symptoms have been numb legs and reduced coordination in my legs. I did have an MRI with lesions and a nice little bright spot that looked like I was having a bright idea. Lesions in both my brain and the part of the spine they had, I am going for an MRI of the rest of my spine in about 6 hours. ...

Re: MS and Martial Arts

I train in a town near where I live in Central Maine. Living in Central Maine, you are very probably deficient in vitamin D. If you have not had the vitamin D blood test called "25-hydroxy D," it would be a good idea (in my opinion) for you to ask your GP to order it for you. Also, request your own...
