Huh. I don't think this is where it began, but I have always thought my first significant episode was started by a mushroom trip. I remember feeling lousy (very much not the usual experience with mushrooms) and trying to take a hot shower to feel better - instead it made me feel awful and weak, and ...

CCSVI skeptics

I was curious to see what my neurologist would say about all this - here is his response to my asking for any leads for an MRV scan: I am afraid I cannot support this. I have read the material and find it totally implausible. Doing MRV is not a problem but there are significant costs assoicated with...

I'm going to start digging around here in the Minneapolis area - you'd have to think that someone at the Mayo Clinic would be interested, maybe we can get a mid-country node going there ...

'hypoxia-like metabolic injury,' 'intrauterine accident' - hmm, I was born with my umbilical cord around my neck and leg, choking me ... wonder if that's a factor!

Huh. Then perhaps bad posture can cramp the veins in the mid back and neck - specifically the bad posture brought on by desk work - and that the increase in MS over recent years can be traced in part to the increase in bad posture-inducing lifestyles/careers?

huh, there seems to be a lot of studies done assessing the effects on the brain of reversing the blood flow back up through the veins - since during heart surgery they need ways to keep the brain nourished. Seems that although this is commonly used, in most people it may not even be effective, since...

Huh - not every time, but sometimes, when I take a really hot bath my heart just POUNDS - not particularly fast, but HARD. (I often am not showing many signs of MS when I go into the neuro, usually in the morning hours - I half jokingly suggested they should really examine people at the end of the d...

Man, now that I think about it, I think I noticed my hands and maybe feet too were far "veinier" than usual back when I was symptomatic ... huh. And I was really drawn to that "venous pressure" theory.

Any connection between the "hot bath test" for MS and this theory?

Zap the second paper ought to be required reading; it is that good a paper. it details the concept of cognitive dissonance well and it also mentions a "social" angle to the bias an individual doctor / medical commuinty has, namely that if you are a neuro, you assess everything in terms of YOUR mode...

I've been following this thread with interest for sometime now, but it wasn't until today that I remembered that when I was first diagnosed and doing a flurry of research, I found a paper I found interesting in that it explained the "dawson's fingers" and other elements that never made much sense to...
