why I do not perform liberation procedures myself

It seems that I am requested to explain why, as a cardiac surgeon, a MS patient, and a believer in CCSVI, I do not perform the liberation procedure on other patients. The answer is quite simple and rather obvious: 1. I do not have the expertise in endovascular procedures 2. Being a hospital employee...

Reply to Gordon Brown

Dear PM, I have read the response of the government to the CCSVI petition and I must confess that I found it to be superficial and dismissive. Why? 1. The government has ask advice to a specific group of physicians, who dominate the MS societies and who have been treating for decades MS patients wit...

ignorance: the mother of all evils

To hear that a specialist in angiology in a hospital few miles away from Ferrara never heard of CCSVI does not surprise me at all! Specialists tend to specialize within their own speciality in certain fields of interest and therefore tend to read only certain papers in certain journals. It is not a ...

bypass

I am delighted to see how sharp the mind of some members is. The question regarding bypass surgery in CCSVI is pertinent but premature. I am sure that it will become a form of treatment as soon as CCSVI is proven to be the cause (or an important co-factor) of MS. Unfortunately not at present when we...

Edser,
I believe that Belfast will follow when evidence in favour of CCSVI as cause of MS is produced.

negative results

I cannot tell where and by whom but I had a doppler test after the venogram confirmed stenosis in both jugular veins: it was normal!!
Unfortunately only experienced operators can read the test properly and they are not many.

Italy

I have just received some articles on Zamboni published by local and a national newspaper in Italy. Zamboni says very clearly that he expects the new study to deliver results by 2012 and he hopes that the liberation procedure will become an accepted form of treatment by then. An important aspect to ...

no vein obstruction found

leetz, I think that it is possible that you do not have MS. Your initial diagnosis was not validated by an MRI scan, which I believe is more specific than biological tests. Let's remember that Zamboni found no venous anomalies in patients affected by other neurological conditions. In my modest opini...

beggers become choosers

It is extremely hurtful to read the outpur of bitterness expressed towards a scientist and a man who has possibly opened a door for so many. Zamboni is not God and cannot therefore be ubiquitous and hold the hand of every MS person. A man found a snake freezing to death one day. Compassion won him, ...

Article+interview

I wish to thank the friends who showed appreciation for my appearance on national tv. I accepted to be interviewed in the hope to do something good for the common cause. The Sun newspaper is planning to publish a two page article next week and I will probably be interviewed tonight. The paper is sup...

cardiac surgery

I wish to point out that it is not true that open heart surgery had the cited high mortality in the 70s. The first open heart operation was performed in 1952 using a heart and lung machine and such procedure became routine in the 70s with very low mortality. I would invite people to avoid to post un...

law

Ana, I am not familiar with the law but I think you are spot on. It is true that the link between CCSVI and MS has not been established in terms of cause and effect, but it is equally true that Zamboni has demonstrated, beyond doubt, that MS patients have problems with the venous drainage of blood f...

Zamboni

I would like to rectify some information given in this topic. 1. Zamboni's e-mail address is now zambo@unife.it. 2. In the paper he published on the J Vascular Surgery in late Nov 2009 there are clear instructions regarding the machine his group used and how to conduct the Doppler study. 3. Paolo Za...
