Re: Question about PPMS diagnosis and disease course

There is a simple way to tell what type of MS you have: If you have relapses and remissions you have relapsing remitting MS. If you don't have relapses and remissions now but had them in the past then you might have Secondary progressive MS. I you don't have relapses and remissions and never did hav...

Re: On Tecfidera and diagnosed with the flu on Monday;

I think you should ask your doctor when its safe for you to travel.
May I ask if you had the flu shot before you got the flu?

The new AFO sounds interesting. Is there a name for it or a link to it?

Thanks

Re: Tropospheric ozone

Maybe you have a correlation between ozone and MS. But a correlation does not prove cause and effect. You need more than that.

Re: Reversible

I agree- we need to have hope and a belief that we will get better one day. I also believe in God and that prayers are sometimes answered.

Good luck to you friend.

Well here is the 64000 dollar question:

Are you still in the wheelchair?

If so then has your condition improved in any measurable way?

Re: Can Eating Pork Cause MS ?

I'm not sure what you can conclude from this but here is some info I dug up. These are rates of MS in Israel for various groups: Group, MS prevalence, Eat pork? Israeli-born Jewish inhabitants , 61.6, no, Immigrant Jews from Europe/America 53.7 no Immigrant Jews from from North Africa/Asia 27.9 no I...

Re: Can your life ever be normal again?

Have you read the Multiple Sclerosis Diet book? I read it shortly after I was diagnosed. I found it to be uplifting. It might improve your attitude and make things seem less hopeless. I don't think it will cure MS but I think it can slow it down. Dave You can buy it on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/...

Re: Looking for input to project idea for worldwide data col

Seems like a good idea to me. I did something similar many years ago, although it was probably not as sophisticated as what you propose. The only things that correlated with MS was latitude and saturated fat in the diet. I think MS is at least two diseases; RRMS and PPMS. Some recent studies suggest...

Re: Fats and oils impact disability in MS patients #ECTRIMS

I went on the Swank diet shortly after I was Dxed 21 years ago. I went off it for two reasons:
1) I understood that it didn't work for PPMS
2) I love bacon and eggs, steaks, hamburgers etc.

But this article says it works for PPMS too.
Maybe I'll have to go back on it.

Your accomplishments are impressive. You're doing better than I am. May I ask what your EDSS score is?
And why did they take your driver's license? Does Ontario automatically do that if you have SPMS? Or was there a specific condition that caused them to revoke it?

Thanks

Re: MS is not a single disease. It is four at least.

In my opinion MS is at least two diseases, relapsing remitting and primary progressive. Other types could be secondary progressive, and benign. That would make 4 altogether. I wonder if those relate to any of the types they mention.

But a bigger question is; can they cure any of them?

Re: PPMS vs RRMS

Both types of MS can progress at different rates, so I don't think you can tell what type he has from the rate of progression. This article gives a brief description of the various types https://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/guide/multiple-sclerosis-understanding-the-differences-in-ms#1 Does your...

Re: 1st movement after waking triggers violent muscle spasms

"1st movement after waking triggers violent muscle spasms" Yeah I get that too, although it just started this year and they're not too violent ...yet. The bigger problem for me with spasms is that I get them in my leg at night and it causes my leg to jerk about every 30 seconds. It can keep me awake...
