Re: Rebooting Immune System at Johns Hopkins
Thanks for the info merlin. I think it would be important to know if people who were RRMS did better than those that are progressives using Hi-Cy. This would be of interest since it seems that the trials for HSCT in the US are limiting participation to only relapsing MS types.

Re: Rebooting Immune System at Johns Hopkins
merlin, Thanks, I didnt see this category on this forum but it does not look like it is a very active topic. I noticed they were treating "the worst of the worst" ms patients where as Dr. Burt is limiting his patients to RRMS. I can only speculate this may be a cause for the mixed results ...

Rebooting Immune System at Johns Hopkins
It looks like Johns Hopkins is working on another approach to reboot the immune system by using a certain chemotherapy drug that destroys immune system cells with the exception of stem cells (no transplant required). http://m.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/media/releases/hicy_drug_regimen_reverses_ms_symp...

Re: 2 Years Post HSCT And MS Still Stopped
Why will some insurance companies cover it while others wont? It seems like all insurance companies would be doing everything they could to deny coverage.

Will there be a cure for MS in the next 10 years? Although not yet proven, HSCT has a lot of promise even though it does not fit your idea of what causes MS and what constitutes a cure. http://www.thelancet.com/journals/laneur/article/PIIS1474-4422(09)70017-1/fulltext Findings Between January, 2003,...

Everyone can have an opinion, but if you believe so strongly about this why not have your husband come off of Copaxone? Surely if inflamation has no role it could really help us to see how well he does without it. I mean your a CCSVI pioneer why not follow through?

Re: How likely will there be a cure for MS within the next 1
As I have already said, to stop MS you need to stop it before you transition to a progressive state. From Dr. Burts work this apears to be the case in that no one he has treated with RRMS and his protocol has transitioned to a progressive state. If this is not a cure, what is your definition?

Re: How likely will there be a cure for MS within the next 1
I believe George Goss has data on his blog from the myeoblative trials overseas that shows a success rate of 70% for primary progressive/secondary progressives at halting disease progression. You can go to his blog and find the data yourself. I believe George was declined by Burt for his trial becau...

Re: How likely will there be a cure for MS within the next 1
Here is a recent analysis from this year, Harry and shaight. HCST does nothing for progressive or secondary disease. This is from one of the inventors of this therapy--Dr. Richard Burt of Northwestern, who now states that secondary progressive MS is NOT about the immune system, but about axonal deg...

Great to hear about your progress Asher! I'm curious to know what your EDSS score was prior to treatment and if you had any decrease yet? Thanks.

Re: How likely will there be a cure for MS within the next 1
Godot, To answer your question, there are currently phase III HSCT trials ongoing now. There is a growing number of people who went through this treatment and others who are currently in the process. Unfortunately, the FDA has not yet acknowledged this treatment for MS (unlike the "liberation&q...

Re: How likely will there be a cure for MS within the next 1
Welcome, Godot--- He's doing well now, no MS progression or new symptoms, reversal of gray matter atrophy, and he's in better health than before. cheer How are you sure of this? She fails to mention that her husband is on Copaxone, yet attributes 100% of his benefits from the CCSVI procedures. Seem...

Re: Aggressive MS
Usually MS is not a disease with a rapid onset, so I would be interested to know on what basis she was diagnosed. There is a related disease to MS called acute disseminated encephalomyelitis or ADEM. This disease will show rapid onset of lesions (spine and/or brain) as well as disability. The main t...

Re: Autoimmunity is not just a theory in MS
Here is a good article that describes the status of MS reseach including comments by the leading scientists: http://www.dana.org/news/publications/detail.aspx?id=24568 Included in this group is a description of the work being done by Dr. Burt at Northwestern: Stem Cells Provide Blank Slate A team at...
