Check this out, Dom... Megan Blewett, the author of the lyme borreliosis supposition, is a teenager! She spoke before the US Congress in June, regarding her research. I found this link on the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (my 12 year old son is a member, I'll have to print this out for him!...

Wow, Dom! Thanks for this post. I was just going to call a local Lyme specialist today to book an appt. for my husband. We are avid hikers, have spent time in parks known to have tics with Lyme, and also have a dog that's had tics. Spinal tap didn't show Lyme, but I've learned that this can happen. ...

Hi all- Wanted to thank you all for the suggestions and sage advice. I feel like I'm back at school, taking a crash course in chemistry. I'm learning more here than at the Drs. office, that's for sure! Jimmylegs- I found a magnesium supplement that hubby takes before retiring called Natural Calm. It...

Sharon- Thanks for the link regarding hyaluronic acid and its affect on remylenization- obviously something that an MS patient would NOT want. N-acetyl-glucosamine in a precursor to HA, but I believe N-A-G taken as an oral supplement never gets as far as HA in the body. When this supplement is broke...

I started my hubby on N-Acetyl Glucosamine supplements after reading that Jefferson Un. paper from 1995 over the summer. I purchase Jarrow formulas N-A-G 750 from Vitacost.com. 120 capules of 750mg. each tablet, one-three tablets per day. N-A-G is the body's precursor to hyaluronic acid- part of the...

OK, since I started this topic, I somehow feel responsible to tie up the Scarlet Fever tangent... :) Scarlet fever is a bacterial infection, caused by strep. Back in the day, it sometimes progressed into rheumatic fever (which my grandmother had-and then developed a rheumatic heart) The bacteria cau...

The stomach and enteroviruses
Any one else feel that their MS is somehow related to a history of gastric/intestinal viruses? My husband almost died as an infant, from a virus which left him severely dehydrated. He's since had a "sensitive stomach" -has contracted food poisoning on several occasions, and suffered more t...

Thanks for all the replies- I was away from my computer this weekend, out of town for a bridal shower, and it did my heart good to see all of the responses when I got back. My husband slept by himself for the first time since dx this weekend. Took the sheets clear off the bed. His spasms are in all ...

Thanks, guys- Hubbie's on Copaxone, so the ginseng shouldn't be an issue. He's also taking antioxidants and Lauricidin (which is an antifungal/antiviral compound) He started out last March with fungal infections, high liver enzymes (10x normal) numbness and tingling on left side. Liver numbers are n...

Dear MS community- Please advise on how to help my husband, recently dx last March. He has difficulty staying asleep, due to painful spasms at night. The baclofen prescribed isn't effective. It seems as though there's a vicious cycle going on, related to interrupted sleep cycles, leading to fatigue ...

Cheese lovers unite!
I’ve been lurking on the boards since my 44 year old husband was diagnosed last March. The reason I’m “coming out” is to say hello and to cheer on another cheese-loving southern Californian post production TV guy! My husband is also in the biz- a composer, and we’ve spent many evenings around a fond...
