Re: Crying and Tysabri?

Whitemountain, here are a few tips: Exercise Volunteer / Help others Don't watch/listen to the news. Don't read the newspaper. More exercise. If you watch television, only watch comedy shows/movies. One of the benefits (I consider it one) I gained from my first MS attack was that I could not tolerat...

Re: Not sure if this is the right place for this post

I experienced the same symptom. It passed in time (about 6 months for me). Be patient. For the time being, it is best to find a way to control your emotions and learn to let things that bother you go...

Re: Body aches

In time, the symptoms will pass, including the sleepiness, and you will feel much better. Be patient. On the bright side, healing is going on while you are sleeping. Listen to your body. After your attack is over and you get back into a more 'normal' (new normal) pattern, you may find, as many do, t...

Perhaps you have other back issues that you are not aware of. Or perhaps you have something else.

Re: New here, thoughts on symptoms?

What makes you think you may have a neurological disorder? Sound perhaps more like a spine issue, perhaps a pinched nerve or herniated disc. Have you tried a chiropractor?

At this point in time, you probably really need to see some good doctors.

Re: New here, thoughts on symptoms?

You obviously have 'something', whether it is MS or something else needs to be determined at this point by doctors. Keep in mind that there are hundreds of diseases that mimic MS. When seeing a neurologist, be sure to see one that specializes in MS. I would also suggest you get your vitamin levels c...

Everyone is affected differently. What does your doctor say? Have you seen a neurologist?

Re: General Question about being on Meds

"what is the likelihood of being bound to a wheelchair in the first five years?" With or without medication, if you have just been diagnosed, it is very unlikely, especially if you have been diagnoses with RRMS. "Does being on the medication prevent this from occurring sooner?" ...

Re: Handling minor relapses

I have decided to see my doctors less at this point since the they really can't help. "It's the potential progression to permanent damage that was worrying me" While there is always this potential, the doctors really can't help you with this. You need to help yourself in order to insure th...

Re: hyperbaric treatment?

My dad tried it and did not get any relief. Some people say it works, but most say it does not (I am referring to MS only). It is certainly worth a try to see if it works for you. I do oxygen therapy daily (not in a chamber) and don't know whether it helps or not. There are numerous threads on this ...

Re: New Diagnosis - Any Suggestions?

Welcome! Read all the MS books you can. Read up on the numerous diets and decide on one - reduce saturated fats from your diet. Some of the dietsare similar to each other and some are very, very different (totally different) from each other, but all seem to work for some and not so much for others. ...

I forgot to add to my comments above that the more you exercise, the less tired you will feel. The transformation from being tired to being energetic is not overnight but it does happen over time.

Re: New Here - New Diagnosis

"exactly how am I supposed to exercise when I cannot get out of bed" The answer is quite simple, you force yourself to. You have to in order to help yourself get better. And challenge yourself to do more each day. For example, walk for 5 minutes the 1st day and then the next time go for a...

Thrilled you are feeling better!!!

"I do not meet the MS criteria yet since I don’t have at least 8 lesions"

Where did you hear this? I am not aware of such a criteria. In fact, it is my understanding there are a small percentage of individuals with MS that do not have any lesions.
