Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and multiple sclerosis

I do not know if this has been posted here before. I have not seen it anyway. The article says that the main difference between MS and ADEM (ADEM is a similar disease truly autoimmune) is the perivenous demielination. ... Finally, in 2009, Zamboni et al reported their results on the endovascular treatment of 65 MS patients with CCSVI. No isolated venous lesion was found, and the distribution of venographic patterns was 30%, 38%, 14% and 18% of types A to D, respectively. They performed percutaneous transluminal ...

My opinion is that this is a marketing thing. Hoping he will feel better afterwards. Hoping more (paying) custumers will follow. For sure is a marketing thing. The good part is that it is also marketing for us. By the way, I think this is the future. Stopping progression fixing CCSVI and restoring ...

It has been said (but nothing published) that Dr. Sinan of Kuwait has done over 200 procedures. He uses aggressive ballooning since he is not allowed to use stents. He is said to be finding restenosis rates of 2% (meaning that 98% of his patients did not restenose) at three months post-procedure. I...

My thoughts about the Beirut study

Probably the paper that I find more interesting from ECTRIMS is the Beirut study. This study confirms one of the early findings of Zivadinov (stenosis are more likely to appear in advanced cases of MS, 24% in early MS and 92% in long time MS) But they forget that CCSVI is not only about stenosis, bu...

Re: IRISH TIMES Coverage - It is finally getting out

God. This is incredibly direct. This is the first report I read that leaves no room for doubt: "Multiple sclerosis has been known as a venous problem since 1863. This, however, had not been proven until recently when an Italian doctor Paolo Zamboni investigated the venous possibilities ..."...

Re: Does MS cause CCSVI?

I know this question was discussed on the recent "CCSVI and iron" thread but I'd be interested to hear the views of anyone who might have missed it. gainsbourg Please define MS. As far as I know, MS is the presence of disseminated scars in the brain. It is impossible that this could produ...

. Look, I want to believe CCSVI as much as you do....but how else do you explain when people get vaccines and then get MS...it is even listd as a side effect on the Imovax rabies insert. And if the truth was out regarding the connection between Autism and vaccines, then people wouldn't vaccinate th...

I can certainly see that with a degree in political science he is fully quallified to make pronouncements on complicated medical issues. I just talked about TOS/CTOS on my Dr. Mehta thread that lists lots of the symptoms.... Vascular surgeons, such as Dr. Mehta (it's a sub-specialty for him) can perform the open operations necessary for this condition (IRs cannot). I bet we're going to see more and more of TOS/CTOS in the literature...

I don't understand. If they claim that to have a stenosis in the CNS veins does not matter and is irrelevant, how can they claim that to poke around those same veins is "extremely dangerous"?

Re: ccsvi

I would just to point out that the title lead to confusion. Autoimmune and CCSVI theories are not competing and both can be truth at the same time. And probably both are. The title suggest that they are exclusive and therefore is misleading. Maybe something like "pure autoimmune" vs. CCSVI...

Just for fun, look how puzzled are still some researches

They say "fatigue is still not completely understood", but in fact they don't have a clue. Abstract Fatigue is an extremely prevalent issue for multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Fatigue can affect quality of life, depression, anxiety, motor function and sleep patterns. There are a number o...

Re: Other veins involved in CCSVI??

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but since I've forgotten the names of the veins I can't do a search. It seems to me I've read of two other veins in the lumbar or spinal region that are sometimes being ballooned instead of or in addition to the azygos (and jugulars). Does anyone know the na...
