Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Hi Dr S, I have had balloon angioplasty three times: 08/2010: both IJVs 12/2010: both IJVs again and Azygos vein 05/2011: both IJVs and Aygos vein This year i had a novel stem cells with balloon angio treatment. The IR only saw stenosis in my left IJV but they don't use IVUS, unfortunately. Please ...

Re: Testing??

Thanks for the replies! The reason I inquire about int. mammary and axillary: months before I became fully symptomatic, I noticed blue veins along my chest, through my armpits, down my rib cage. I thought it was really odd - no way was I pregnant or anything like that. It went along with breast pai...

Re: Testing??

Hi, for those who have been tested: --If the IR finds stenoses in multiple veins will they all be treated??? (ie. subclavian, axillary, internal mammary...) not just IJV being treated. --Will the IR look at other veins besides the usual suspects? --If you were able to get insurance to help you with...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

if it were financially possible, I would repeat venography on every patient at six months just to find those who restenose and treat them again early In your opinion, would you hold the same recommendation for someone who saw no improvements during or after your first treatment? To answer your ques...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

The article by Schelling mentions the sigmoid sinus veins. What do you think of them? Are they routinely checked? I haven't heard as much discussion about them as IJV/azygous and even renal. I do know of a patient who had a stent placed there in 2010 and is now asymptomatic and living a normal life...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

HAve you seen this, doc? http://www.pagepressjournals.org/index.php/vl/article/view/vl.2014.4828/4276 Yes Rob i had my first discussion with Professor Reekers on this topic in september 2009. At that time he thought that the entier idea of ccsvi was preposterous. In 2010 and 2011 I heard his debate...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

So we need this study done: http://www.jvascsurg.org/article/S0741-5214(10)02787-4/fulltext Is Routine Follow-up Angiography Warranted After Dialysis Access Intervention? only restated as Is Routine Follow-up Angiography Warranted After CCSVI Intervention? An old article that came up in a search for vein stenosis, because yeah I search that: Axillary and subclavian vein stenosis: percutaneous angioplasty. Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

This indeed is possibly the answer to where venous back-jets come from, why they are so powerful, and why they are so harmful. It is necessary to understand with knowledge, what a 90% stenosis means. Take a thumb and put it over the end of a garden hose. They are powerful because the heart is still...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Nutcracker Syndrome - CCSVI - Midline Congestion Syndrome - Venous Back Jets As I already wrote in my first post Thursday last week, in 2013, during my first treatment of stenosed jugular vein valves on both sides in Brooklyn, a severe Nutcracker syndrome was diagnosed. With IVUS, Dr. Sclafani foun...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Dr Sclafani, Yes, I do mean stent. "There is no self expanding balloon. Do you mean self expanding stent?" And also if there is any pain in the same location as previous to stenting the LRV, does that mean there is problems again with PCS or the LRV or both? I sometimes get pain, not chro...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Dr. Sclafani, Is it safe to assume, since you placed stents and I have no more pain, that blood flow is normal and my LRV is patent and without clot? I do not worry about loss of patency like I do from stenting of the internal jugular veins. Thrombosis after stenting of the renal vein is pretty unc...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

Dear Dr. Sclafani, Dr. Zamboni and others cautioned patients to wait for proven protocols if their condition warranted it. No major trials have been completed yet, but, based on your experience, can you give an overview of what is most likely to improve? This is a wise and politically appropriate c...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

This is perhaps no cure and I will always have the feeling of Damokles' sword hanging over my head. 51 years of bloodflow out of the left renal vein being more or less intensively directed into my epidural plexus and spinal canal can be the cause of neurological damage that leads over time to an ef...
