Jimpsull: Outside of some protein, there's little nutrition in egg white. In addition (the following is assembled from 2 sources); Biotin is an important component of enzymes in the body that break down certain substances like fats, carbohydrates, and others. Raw egg white contains a substance calle...

Re: Err, is there a "right" way to be sick?
Hi, shevroletti. Hope you've had a chance to look around. My son has opted for the present to forego the standard treatment of DMD's and instead treat with what would best be called an enhanced-natural approach. By this I mean diet and supplementation. The diet is a Dr. Terry Wahls/ketogenic hybrid,...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS
NZer1, hey: I'm not sure there's anything they don't test on mice first, but one particular example of initial testing on mice translating nicely to humans is that of inosine. While I'm aware of the debate surrounding supplementation with inosine (my son believes its lessened both the degree of dizz...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS
jimmylegs, hi: Thanks for the "Eins, Zwei, Drei" tip! I get it. D2 (ergocalciferol/plant) and D3 (cholecalciferol/animal) both give rise to the active form (1,25(OH)2D), referred to as calcitriol. Cholecalciferol (AKA cal cio l) begets Calcifediol (AKA calc idi ol), which begets Calci tri ...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS
As concerns Squeakycat's post on vitamin D vs. methlyprednisolone, I need help distinguishing the difference between calcitriol and D3, as a search for a definitive answer yielded conflicting information. Is D3 (which I understand to be "cholecalciferol") = 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol [1...

albo181: B12 deficiency is known to cause MS like symptoms, including (if not especially) yours. I was lead to this knowledge by others on this forum. Search the B12 threads for leads on information and personal experiences. If it is a deficiency, it can be corrected relatively simply, cheaply, and ...

Scott1: It was late and my writing was slipping. I was trying to ask if zinc actually binds to the peroxynitrite, rendering it inert and able to be safely eliminated. While simultaneously looking to restore balance (which will take time), I consider, in the interim and in order to minimize presently...

Re: Resveratrol combats ebv (study)...rituximab alternative?
Scott1: In the article you recommended (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC150913/), the case is made that peroxynitrite targets eNOS, the reason being the zinc at the center. One reason they used to substantiate their conclusion was the fact that "the effects of ONOO– were mimicked by...

Re: Err, is there a "right" way to be sick?
Hi shevroletti, I'm relatively new here myself, my son being recently diagnosed with MS. I've found on this forum a lot of knowledgeable people, and people with experiences to share. They are all eager to help. You should probably post on a different thread (topic), preferably the one entitled INTRO...

Orion98665, Hi: The article in Discovery had me on the edge of my seat like a good sci-fi movie. I wonder if infectious agents, such as the ones mentioned, contribute "missing pieces" of code to HERVs, enabling them to replicate?? Also, is it possible these HERVs exist in myelin, and are r...

Re: Protozoal Infection -- The Next Big Discovery?
CureOrBust: On Dr. Marra's SERVICES page, under "MS vs Lyme Disease" tab, she concludes by stating that "a diet rich in fats known as the “Swank Diet” has been reported to aid in slowing the progression of MS symptoms. This makes sense in light of the fact that if the disease in quest...

Re: Resveratrol combats ebv (study)...rituximab alternative?
CaliReader: Yes, evidence of benefit. P.S. My son suspects Lyme (no hard physical evidence, such as EM, actual tick, etc), but he's more into researching personal experiences and contrasting those with his own. He has, at my suggestion, been supplementing with inosine at 1 g/d, and is considering an...

Scott1: Just targeting TH17 cells because they assist in the survival of EBV infected cells. I agree MS is metabolic in nature, a disorder precipitated (in genetically predisposed persons) by an infection, likely EBV (though there are other culprits).

Re: Resveratrol combats ebv (study)...rituximab alternative?
Scott1: Gleaned from the research I've done to date, Th17 cells enhance viral persistence and inhibit other beneficial T cell cytotoxicity (which would tend to kill the host cell in which the virus persists). Decreasing the number and effectiveness of Th17 cells can be done safely and effectively wi...

Re: Resveratrol combats ebv (study)...rituximab alternative?
