Re: Benefits of a plant based diet

Agreed. Ketones are good for the brain. The video I posted doesn't dispute that. What it does present though, is that it matters where you get that protein and fat. Eat your coconut oil.

Re: Vital Nutrients for Nerve Repair & Neuropathy

120 capsules, still 300mg each capsule , and is an even better value being about 25% less expensive as the other supplements mentioned: https://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Labs-Antioxidant-Protection-Supplement/dp/B0C6X5H3HL/ According to the label, that supplement is regular R-Lipoic acid. It's not Na-R-...

Re: Vital Nutrients for Nerve Repair & Neuropathy

OR you could take a high potency and stabilized R-ALA supplement that has up to 40x the absorption. 600mg per 2 capsule serving, but you could just take 1 probably for 300mg which is what I did when I took this supplement, reasonably priced too: https://www.amazon.com/Stabilized-R-Alpha-Increased-A...

Re: Vital Nutrients for Nerve Repair & Neuropathy

I take this one and on closer inspection I think it might be Na- RALA - see the back. https://www.lifeextensioneurope.com/super-r-lipoic-acid-eu Yes, that's the stabilized version with better absorption. The brand I take suggests taking it on an empty stomach. Do you do that? I take mine in between...

Re: Vital Nutrients for Nerve Repair & Neuropathy

Something else to consider about supplement formulations, many manufacturers add bioperene (Black Pepper Fruit Extract) to their formulations. It is thought that bioperene promotes nutrient absorption (apparently clinical studies support this claim) . Some of the supplements I take have bioperene a...

That's why I place the ? in the end of my phrase. Although Benfotiamine isn't the best B1 form for multiple sclerosis, in my humble opinion this is Allithiamine. When I do a search for allithiamine this one from Ecological Formulas is the most prevalent product that comes up. https://www.lifeextens...

Re: ATA188

Hi Cure, I was in the open label study for about 4 years. They did measure cognitive issues (PSAT and memory tests) and did the fatigue questionnaire (self reported) at every visit, and suicide potential checks. This was of course in addition to physical performance (25ft walk etc), and a few eye si...

Should [benfotiamine] be avoided? https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Inhibition-of-thiamine-transport-in-Saccharomyces-Iwashima-Wakabayashi/827caec8adb4b17e5d14fe2c997b64a4f76c13fc?p2df The paper discusses thiamine disulfide and O-benzoyl thiamine disulfide. I also take benfotiamine and have been for years. In my opinion, taking any supplement for a short period of time is insufficient to notice any benefits from it. The following review cites some studies using befotiamine in diabetic neuropathy. One study found a benefit with 300 mg twice a day withi...

Hi Jaded,
Jaded wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:33 pm Still it is interesting that the R lipoic acid I just paid a fortune for isn't well absorbed.
I would keep it refrigerated. Perhaps you can find a local supplier of Na-R-Lipoate once you've finished your current supply of R-Lipoic acid.
