Re: What next

So after nearly two weeks of no D3, and 200mg mag (sometimes 300mg) I am no better. I didn't up the mag as I wanted to see what the D3 absence did. The 25-hydroxy D test is measuring calcidiol. The half-life of calcidiol (a.k.a. 25-hydroxyvitamin D) is 2-3 weeks (according to Dr. Carol Wagner and D...

Re: In the process of finding a diagnosis

hopefully they are also teamed up with some cofactor experts and don't gloss over interaction details when specifying target levels. Certainly, Dr. Robert P Heaney, Creighton professor, long time director of GrassrootsHealth research, who died last year, was aware of cofactors, as I'm sure all the ...

Re: In the process of finding a diagnosis

I never received the numbers, he just called me and told me I was slightly low and to supplement. At the time, I didn't relate it to possible MS, so I just figured I would take supplements as directed without asking for numbers. The doctor told me to take 5,000 IU twice a day until my next work up,...

Welcome to ThisIsMS, Melissa (MelissaAndrews).

I am curious about your vitamin D test result. Will you share the actual number result with us? I am interested to know what your doctor considers "slightly low."

Re: Help! Recently diagnosed. Now what?

I got the dreaded phone call yesterday that my lumbar puncture came back positive for MS. It took me by surprise because at my last neuro appt. the doctors said they did not suspect MS. I feel like I am completely overwhelmed and obviously in a bit of denial. I go back for an appt on Friday with a ...

Re: MS and Martial Arts

I train in a town near where I live in Central Maine. Living in Central Maine, you are very probably deficient in vitamin D. If you have not had the vitamin D blood test called "25-hydroxy D," it would be a good idea (in my opinion) for you to ask your GP to order it for you. Also, reques...

Re: Pre-Diagnosis Anxiety

I am just writing this as an outlet while waiting for my neuro appointment in April . For the past nine-ish months I have been struggling with odd sensation in my right arm and for less time my leg. It is almost like a pins and needles numbness with coordination loss. I notice in the summer I was d...

Was specifically prescribed Ergocalciferol 50000IU to be taken once a week for 2 months, followed by Colecalciferol 1000IU twice daily for a month. In view of the following, please discuss the scheduling and amount of your supplementation: Chart showing intake level necessary for change in serum le...

did you have an answer for OP's question, LC? No good answer; I am searching like everyone else here. Who here has a job? I do not have a job; I am retirement age. How does everyone else do it? I try to get through each day – eat a healthy diet (organic, grass fed beef, no dairy, no coffee, very li...

Welcome to ThisIsMS, mayertucker. You have certainly been through the wringer! Your symptoms and experiences are absolutely NOT "in your head!" Vitamin D is necessary for every system in the body. A vitamin D deficiency can result in any of your symptoms (from your kidney stones, sleep pro...

Doc will be prescribing me some supps, not sure what yet. I live in the tropics, kind of surprising I have a vit D deficiency. Be sure your doctor prescribes vitamin D3 rather than vitamin D2: Vitamin D2 is much less effective than vitamin D3 in humans . (2004) Laura A. G. Armas, Bruce W Hollis, an...

Re: Who here has a Job?

I've been tired for the past 10 years but I've found a way to socialize a little and work a 40 hour a week job ( I was diagnosed about 13 years ago). Lately I'm exhausted all the time . I started Copaxone (40mg) on Monday this is my first time on an MS drug could this be why I'm so tired? Like more...
