If a person was completely asymptomatic, I doubt he or she would be diagnosed with MS.

Re: 6 Months after diagnosis....

Speels: Mark and Dave gave some good responses. Your doctor can really only tell you that your MS is a mild case now . While I have read about some general trends, there aren't really any good predictors for how MS will progress in an individual. And like Mark said, the point of the DMDs is to preve...

Re: Diabetic mice provide a surprising breakthrough for MS

Thanks for the explanation Patientx....Sometimes its so hard to decipher these studies and what they actually mean to us MSers x Definitely. Of course, that's my interpretation of the article - I could be way off base. I'm curious to know how these doctors came up with the combination of injecting ...

Its meant to be a myelin copy so how can studies show this diverts the immune system from attacking myelin whereas this study suggests it makes the immune system attack Myelin?? Re: Diagnosis of MS - suggestions

Not saying that's what you have, but given your episodes of optic neuritis, and the lack of brain lesions, my guess is that it should probably be ruled out. I'm surprised the neuroopth wouldn't consider this. You've probably already googled NMO, but, if not, here's a few links: http://www.myelitis.o...

Re: Diagnosis of MS - suggestions

Vman74052,

My guess is that it would be worth seeing a neurologist for another opinion, if the neuropts have nothing else to offer. Clearly, something serious is going on.

Do you know if, in the blood tests they ran, they checked for NMO (Devic's disease)?

Re: High dose vitamin D has no impact on MS study suggests

The abstract for the study is available here: http://www.aan.com/go/elibrary/journal Objective: Higher latitude, lower ultraviolet exposure, and lower serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) correlate with higher multiple sclerosis (MS) prevalence, relapse rate, and mortality. We therefore evaluated the e...

Re: Mom of 31 year old daughter in diagnostic process....

Carmom: I've never experienced optic neuritis as a result of the MS, so maybe someone else could comment if your daughter's symptoms are typical of ON. Is the opthamologist still the lead doctor, or a neurologist at UCSF? Who looked at the MRI images or report? Usually MS lesions will show up in som...

I would love to see the ARR calculations to turn out to be different and in a more favourable way than my calculation :) - we will certainly have to wait for the raw numbers to be published. But then again, I think the PR machine of the pharma-company would have explicitly highlighted how to correc...
