Re: all things vitamin D

Thanks NHE I have incorporated additional things like plyometrics (jumps) and strength training (weight machines). I probably need to do the plyometrics more often I hope this helps prevent further deterioration. According to current medical literature the medication is the only way of strengthening...

Re: all things vitamin D

Thanks for all this info. I can't remember why I didn't come back earlier to see your comments. It is all so complicated isn't it? And we are all different. I need to see my GP about possibly taking some meds to help bone density. Or maybe some calcium tablets. I've started doing some weights at the...

Re: New approach for repairing damaged nerve sheaths

Hi Dim

I saw this recently and wondered if anyone might post it here. Thanks for putting it up.

I can't see how this ties in with anything I have read before. It seems to be a new approach - maybe that's what is needed.

Re: all things vitamin D

Oh gosh NHE that does not sound like fun. I've never taken a calcium supplement although my vitamin C supp has added calcium carbonate (190mg) and mag carbonate (104mg). I take 5000IU D3 but not every day for sure. I don't go out in the sun due to previous melanoma so I only really get D from supple...

Re: all things vitamin D

Oh my serum calcium was 2.26 mmol/l last Dec and I just had a dexa scan showing osteporosis in right hip and ostepoeania in lower spine & left hip. That's the only bit they scanned!

Been on HRT for years so feel a bit WTF?! But my mum has had osteoporosis for years

I am back on the dairy...

Re: all things vitamin D

Hi JL

Good to hear you found what works for you.

I take a 5000IU supp but not every day. My last test in Dec 2022 showed a reading of 99nmol/l which was up from 85 the Feb before. Guess I need to take it more often :/ (The NHS range for my age is 51-250)

Not sure what to make of that!

Hi David

I saw that too. Yes, I'd take it. I guess it would be a more advanced version of the tech in the article - and hopefully more sophisticated??

Heat sensitivity

Hi folks We are having a heatwave here in the UK at the moment. I've been wondering why my sensitivity to heat is getting worse.....I had a look at some studies, not sure what they were going to tell me! Sometimes I know the answer and would prefer not to see it in writing...It is disappointing beca...

Trigeminal Neuralgia

Thanks for setting up this forum NHE. I know TN is not MS. But I hope this space will help those of us who may come here to ask WTF is going on?! When I was diagnosed with TN (10 years after my MS diagnosis), I was shocked (excuse the pun). Mostly I was very upset that diagnosing TN wasn't simple. L...

Re: Oxygen treatment

Ok thanks ElliotB

I think it must help some people- MS centres in the UK offer it as a type of therapy. I did check it out briefly but saw that the possible downsides included damage to the middle ear and eyesight issues. I am sure the centres that offer it must have a good risk-assessment.

Re: Dantrium

Apologies Scott1 I thought I had replied - in fact been looking to see if I mis-posted Thanks, the heat does ease up the pain - I have noticed that when I have a bath or shower. In fact it also calms the TN. Just asking but wonder whether we could have a TN section? It is not common in the non MS wo...

Re: Dantrium

Tight and uncomfortable. Like I've strained it. When I tripped I fell forward and my left wrist over flexed in stopping my fall.... my head was facing to the right to avoid my face hitting the ground. The neuralgia has always been on that left side, so the wrist sprain and all along the arm, shoulde...
