Brain plasticity is very real. I see that someone has brought up Jill Bolte Taylor, and Norman Doidge's book (well worth the read). I believe that i got this link - http://www.positscience.com/ - from Doidge's book, and although they are selling something, they offer a lot for free too. I read on an...

My father is 100% Irish blood (He is "Black Irish"). Both of my paternal grandparents had venous insufficiency in their legs, and the concommitant venous ulcers - known to have high iron depositions (I am starting to get that too - at 48). My maternal grandfather was English - derived from...

it appears that the jugulars are primarly used when in the supine (laying down) position. In the upright position, the spinal epidural and vertebral veins carry the drainage load. I found this: showed blood flow mainly through the internal jugular veins in the supine position, but mainly through th...

Johnnymac, I agree with ozarkcanoer (my sight is bad lately, and I kept seeing that as ozarkcancer - it was freaking me out!). I wrote on another post (redacted) I have been thinking a lot of those who can't afford to do it. The cost is brutal in the US. My cognitive functions have taken a pounding ...

Thanks Mutley and mrhodes40. I am so excited, I think I'm going to have an exacerbation... The kind Doctor wrote to e-mail him next week, when they are doing the scheduling for 2010. He wrote that it would be 7-10 weeks from then. That works well for me, because I haven't felt much like traveling in...

... The costs so far have been flights and hotel. I haven't paid for the medical treatment yet, I guess that will be at the end, and I don't know how much that's going to be... Sorry if that's not much help. This is the cost break-down sent to me by Dr. Simka this morning: An average cost of libera...

Wow! I e-mailed Dr. Simka 3 days ago, and received a reply this morning. Jitters, excitement, trepidation (is it my veins that causes the MS?) I really wish I could get the scans in Canada (so I would know that I have the problem), before flying myself and my family to Poland, but I am so ready to t...

Thank you Erika, and Phil, for your responses. I don't worry so much about language, as I learn them very easily. I speak Spanish, Portuguese, French, a little Arabic, a little Japanese, and I can swear in Russian (grin). My wife has a Polish friend who can give me a crash course if I have the oppor...

I am from Canada, and have just contacted Dr. Simka last night (by e-mail). I check my mail every half-hour, or so, but no reply yet. Frankly, I do not expect a quick response, as I'm sure that all the doctors are receiving thousands of contacts. I will post here when and if I hear from him. I am a ...

Marie, you misread my post, so your response is out of context. Dake has 0% patency in treating jugular and azygos veins with balloon dilation. They recollapse on the operating table while Zamboni's stay open for 18 months in the majority of his patients. And this has been well known for months. Th...

Pardon my previous rant. I am fatigued, I have a splitting headache and I have MS .  I found your rant to be quite succinct, and I appreciated it. When I read " and I have MS ", I snickered. I have been feeling pretty cruddy the last 6 months, and I have been having rants of my...

Re: What does "truncular" mean ?

ozarkcanoer wrote::? OK, I understand much of Zamboni's paper, but what does "truncular" mean ?
Truncular means 'of the trunk' - as in the trunk of the body - essentially, from the throat to the belly. Truncular veins would be in this area - i.e. Vena Cava, Jugular Vein, Pulmonary vein, etc.
