Re: Study shows MS patients benefit from exercise

Love any article about a lifestyle change we can make to positively impact our illness. I am a bit of a gym rat and try to focus on Compound movements when lifting, basically exercises that engage multiple muscle groups as one would think that would engage more of the CNS due to coordination. Exerci...

I felt the same way which is why I chose Copaxone which does not suppress the immune system.
Agreed!

Re: Estimating typical MS disability progression speed.....

The goal of the study was to see if censoring-bias and analysts’ survival time assumptions affected the progression rates. It was not to determine what the progression rates are. I can only assume the data they are showing is not referring specifically to progression rates, but instead to the subgou...

Re: COULD M.S BEGIN IN THE GUT

Very interesting... there is definitely a connection with the gut in my mind. Apparently 60% of pwMS have low stomach acid. 80% of people with Rheumatoid Arthritis have low acid. And many other "auto-immune" disorders have this issue as well. Low stomach acid is called Hypochlorhydria and ...

Re: What POSITIVES has MS brought to you?

Good for you Elliot. MS is a horrifying disease and has affected many peoples lives negatively. But to be able to find a silver lining in your life situation is very important. It is not the situation that is bad but your judgement of it. When originally diagnosed I was terrified. I had worked in co...

Re: My Regimen (ridiculous?)

Im still surprised why more MSers arent taking Psorex. I get the flush a third of the time... o real gastro/intestinal issues. Well technically Psorex is a monoethyl where Tecfidera is a Dimethyl. I am not a chemist and cannot comment on the carbon atom arrangements and what that may mean for the e...

Re: Body aches

Most days lately I've been sleeping for a good 12 hrs a day and after only being awake a couple of hours I feel the need to go back to sleep. I just feel awful every day, tired aching and kind of weak. I was very similar after my diagnosis I would come home from work and nap. My recommendation is t...

Re: Naglaa Attia

I did not say it was made of myelin proteins, but it is made of four amino acids (I thought 3) found in myelin basic protein, as you listed glutamic acid, lysine, alanine, and tyrosine. It is suspected this mimics myelin basic protein and may work as a decoy for the immune system. http://en.wikipedi...

Re: Naglaa Attia

Very interesting, but the statement: "...However by synthesising proteins from the sheaths in a lab, and then injecting them into the blood stream at increasing doses, the body begins to learn that they are safe...." Sounds like Copaxone or glatiramer acetate? It injects the 3 main compone...

Agree as well. The other thing is that during intimacy blood flows change, increases to some areas and depletion in others. Maybe get your BP checked to see if its low or high.

I don't like to take steroids unless necessary, but what if the damage becomes permanent? My Neuro said a steroid does nothing to prevent damage it just speeds up your healing if any was to be had. He said there have been 100's of studies and none show any better results with steroids vs. nothing. ...

I haven't noticed anything good or bad. May as well be a vitamin. But i stick with it because of user reports like dlynn and the fact it is cheap.

Re: New study: blood flow, brain atrophy & MS

Nice research as usual cheer. You have convinced me the vascular system is involved in the onset of MS. However I still cannot make the jump from stretching 2 veins in the neck to resolving blood flow to the entire CNS. I am anxiously awaiting the results from the UBC study.

Re: Saturated fat vers Co. oil

As I have mentioned previously, many diets are polar opposites of each other yet they all seem to work for some and not for others. Which diet is best? I guess the one that works best for you. I like that quote. Just like settling on a medication finding a diet that fits your lifestyle and betters ...
