Re: Apology needed from Cheerleader and Cece
"There are some highly effective treatments for relapsing MS" And what are they??? HSCT, alemtuzumab, rituximab, ocrelizumab, ofatumumab, daclizumab, cyclophosphamide, novantrone, natalizumab However, all have significant risk and no clear evidence in non-relapsing progressive multiple sc...

Re: Lawsuit against Dr. Arata is dismissed
There was a signed consent form. There was what seems like a delay in recognizing that a stroke had occurred and an unfortunate choice in not going to the closest hospital. But the case has been dismissed. There is a risk of stroke with the procedure. Early recognition and treatment of a stroke has...

Re: The story of Rituxan and the weakest point in the system
Not absurd at all. $120 megabucks is a pittance. It makes the drug company more honest. There would be no incentive for healthy controls, who would not be paid. There would probably be fewer trials with drugs that have no chance of working (like the one I was on). These trials would less often be s...

Re: The story of Rituxan and the weakest point in the system
I think there is only one goal in research by drug companies. They have been paying too little too long. Patients have been convinced they can cut the queue and treat their diseae with a newer treatment by being a guinea pig. That way drug vendors get a free ride. I think it's time patients stopped...

Re: The MRZ reaction
Forget myelin-specific antibodies. There are plenty of way to get those. There is only one way to get this combination, and if you do you, are certain to get MS , and certain not to have " neuromyelitis optica or MOG-IgG-positive encephalomyelitis, two important differential diagnoses of MS &q...

Re: The story of Rituxan and the weakest point in the system
I think the insurance companies should take it upon themselves to cover rituximab. It does not cost them any money because it is actually less expensive than many disease modifying therapies which are clearly less effective.

Re: The MRZ reaction
Interesting. anti MOG is also quite common in multiple sclerosis. Also, people with MS tend to lose varicella zoster IgG as they get older just like people without MS. It is hard to know if this phenomenon represents non-specific antibody production or if it is a specific response to these viruses. ...

I'm sorry to hear you are having so much pain, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not give up. There are people who experience great suffering and go on to live fulfilling lives. As others have said, you need professional help. Do not try to go it alone. Check out the story of Dax Cowart, an attorney who w...

I agree with euphoniaa's post. This is probably aubagio induced peripheral neuropathy, a well known side effect.

Re: Question about treatment without MRI info.
If you are concerned about the gadolinium, you can always ask to have the scan without contrast. This would be somewhat lower in yield but would still be useful if it revealed stability or multiple new lesions I think what tzootsi is saying makes sense-if you are older and have long standing progres...

moutaingirl: Best of luck with your upcoming appointment. I understand you frustration, but let me remind you that being diagnosed with a serious neurological disease such as multiple sclerosis is MUCH MUCH WORSE than having unexplained bothersome symptoms. I pray that your new doctor concludes that...

Re: Lawsuit against Dr. Arata is dismissed
I'm glad it was dismissed. It's an unfortunate case, but it's not plausible that she didn't know about potential side effects given that she traveled so far to have it done. She had obviously researched the treatment extensively.

Re: intracranial hypertension in pediatric MS
It looks like this is an error There is massive difference in average opening pressure between the two groups. From the article: "The cerebrospinal fluid opening pressure mean was 25.6 cm H20 in the demyelinating disease group and 35 cm H20 for the primary intracranial hypertension group (P = ....
