Hmmm, I'd like to see how this works first since MBP has been used to TRIGGER autoimmune responses in the past.
How is it that it now eliminates an autoimmune response and causes the immune system to identify MBP as 'self' and thus not trigger an assault on it, I wonder?

Re: Hello - newbie with a question: What's with my mri's??
No one can really say what caused the improvement in your lesion load, my guess would be Tysabri just based on studies done. The good news is that SOMETHING that you've done has had a dramatic and beneficial effect! What is your Vitamin D level at now? Did you have symptoms of Vit D deficiency? 70 l...

Re: Is numbness permanent?
You never really know if something will be permanent unless looking back on it. I've had sensory issues disappear years later, some, months later, some, just days later. Doctors told me early on that a symptom that lasts months is permanent, but my actual experience is very different. I don't know i...

Re: ***CAN DOCTOR MAKE ME SWITCH MEDICATIONS???***
1. A doctor can't force you to take anything. 2. The question seems to be whether one can stop prescribing copaxone for you. I would think only if you no longer meet qualifying conditons. Since none of the meds can claim to prevent all relapses, and it sounds like your subjective health is at least ...

Re: Relapse - what to do?
I agree that steroids for a relapse generally do not improve the outcome but only shorten the relapse time. So it's good to use them sparingly for when a relapse is really interfering with functioning or is involving serious non-sensory abilities. They have risks of serious side effects which increa...

Re: A whole lot to think about...
Hi mome24, Your symptoms do not sound very benign to me, and given that plus your age at possible diagnosis, chances are that you may not experience a benign course. You describe quite a number of symptoms as well as new ones...sounds like an active disease profile to me. The older DMD's have a fair...

Re: HELP! My Neuro Can't help me diagnose this...
The interferons are known to cause flu-like symptoms as a side effect of the med.
Is that what you are experiencing? Your neuro surely should have known this. More info can be found in your med literature. Betaseron has a nurse call-line, don't they? Would they have any helpful info?

Re: Divinyls singer "I Touch Myself" Chrissy Amphlett
PwMS have traditionally enjoyed an overall lower rate of cancer, although some more recent increases in incidence of breast cancer may be related to common treatments now. These studies show conflicting associations for rates of various forms of cancers and MS. I certainly hope that additional chest...

Re: Another one for copaxone!
I have been on copaxone for many, many years. While it's never happened to me, I always keep in the back of my mind the possibility of experiencing an immediate post-injection reaction. It apparently feels like you are having a heart attack, so I try to keep it in the back of my mind so I don't frea...

I continue to perform #26Acts of Kindness in memory of the Sandy Hook victims which is a tremendous honour. If I die tomorrow, I will die happy to have contributed good to this world on behalf of those very special souls.

Annette Funicello was born the end of October. In New York.
I don't think the month she was born mattered to her.

RIP Annette Funicello
Her Foundation contributed much to MS research, including CCSVI.
Sadly, the procedure could not save her. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and loved ones today. She herself is free of the prison that MS put her in.

Re: Ottawa trials "cure" MS
Relapsing/remitting can be devastating, and the vast majority of RRMS go on to develop secondary progressive MS. None of it is a picnic and both those with RRMS and SPMS can be profoundly disabled. I wish this research would hurry up, it seems to be taking forever to obtain results. The W5 episode o...
