Re: Slow thinking and reasoning.

I think this may have nothing to do with MS and is rather a marital problem. 1) You are getting older 2) Maybe you are slow 3) Maybe he is an ego-maniac...In any case, you may find with MS and some medications, that your memory is not as good in certain parts of the day. With me and Lyrica...I forge...

Re: Male Cath Question....

1) You probably have a UTI. If you have neuro pain and it has increase, this is also a sign. I would get on CIPRO as quick as possible 2) I cath 4 times a day, and haven't had a UTI in 5 years (seems incredible). I found the key is to have immaculately clean hands. I use a 70% alcohol-based hand san...

Re: Steroid pulse on SPMS (no relapse), reason for improveme

The correlaton of the MRI to actual MS Symptoms is about 30%. Otherwise stated, the MRI and related plaques/lesions only help to tell 30% of the story. There are so many other things going on in the brain that are unknown and that is why you can be PPMS/SPMS and have no worsening lesions...but have ...

Re: MS Pain

Nerve pain is one of the toughest things to treat. In most cases, a lot of the common meds (Ibuprofen, Opiates) do not work. Typically, Nerve Pain is best treated with Anti-Tremors/Spasm medications. The BEST one is Elavil. Also, I found Gabapentin did nothing, but Lyrica worked best. Talk to your n...

Re: pain

I have the same pain, a burning sensation. #1: Take Amitryptalene (Elavil) - Cheap Drug, but the BEST. It hits ALL the neurotransmitters. #2: Take Lyrica, if possible. It is for diabetic nerve pain, but works just as well for MS. As we have damaged nerve pathways.l Other options: - Tegretol - Gabape...

It lasted for about 2 months. I would not do it again. But it depends on the person...you may have better results if you have RRMS.

Re: Dr. Michael Arata;Autonomic Specialists

I went there for CCSVI - to unblock veins. It gave me short-term relief, better balance and more energy. Dr. Arata is very thorough and his methodology for treating CCSVI is quite extensive. If you are considering going there - they have packages and even deals with Hotels. They will provide transpo...

Re: the question I have been afraid to ask

I had many of the same things as you. Diagnosed at 19 with Optic Neuritis.

Don't worry about the lesions/plaques. There is only a 30% correlation between plaques and symptoms.

Avoid stress...studying was the worst for me.

Re: Inconsistencies between the current definitions of MS

I finally got something interesting out of my Neurologist's mouth... My Aunt, who is a Doctor in the U.S., told me of a woman who passed away many years ago. When they did the autopsy for the cause of death, they found the she had "plaques" all over her brain...but she didn't have M.S. My ...

Re: MS specialist accused of defaming heart surgeon in email

I was SOOOO THRILLED when I saw this article. Finally Dr. Freedman and his ego got him into trouble. It is the best Christmas gift I could ever get...having his BIG STUPID MOUTH being "quashed" is a benefit to all PWMS. Besides him calling CCSVI a "hoax", Dr. Freedman called me a...

This is truly unbelievable. Dr. Mehta saying NO to $$$$$.

I am very surprised. After all, he marketed the "price per vein" special treatment.

The Real PROBLEM

I have been very fascinated with Stem Cells and their potential to help MS Patients. Thus, I asked my neurologist the following question, "There is so much promise in Stem Cells to help treat MS Patients...so why the long wait?" His answer, "$$$$$$". The Drug Companies don't want...
