Re: all things vitamin D
I don't know if this has already been discussed, but thought it worth a mention. I saw this video recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF24xmJQK1k The speaker is a neurologist, whose work led her into sleep disorders and then she discovered a connection to Vitamin D levels. her hypothesis is bas...

Re: High protein diet and Uric acid - just a shot in the dar
Interesting thanks, I had a look at Inosine, as I understand it, it's an Amino Acid precursor, commonly found in animal products, but esspecially higher in organ meats like liver & heart. So although there is a strong inverse corrolation between gout and MS, there are still exceptions, and High ...

Re: Blocking protein expression delays onset of MS in mice
The SIRT1 rang a bell, I refreshed myself on it, it is the gene that has been the focus of much research particularly in the longevity areas, but it seems to be in the opposite direction, where upregulation of the SIRT1 gene is associated with longevity and reduction of chronic diseases of ageing, t...

High protein diet and Uric acid - just a shot in the dark?
Knowing that MS & Gout are mutually exclusive, and Uric acid levels are the key association seen.
Has anyone ever tried a high protein diet to raise levels of Uric acid?
Anyone done anything in the vicinity and noticed anything, good or bad?

Re: Study finds exercise, sunlight treat Multiple Sclerosis
Couldn't find that particular study, but found these two Review/Opinion papers with same author outlining the process in a bit more detail, makes you wonder what other processes are mediated by sunlight and UV exposure: http://eurheartj.oxfordjournals.org/content/31/9/1041.full http://www.vitamindwi...

Re: Paleo Diet discussion
stop putting toxins in the body and eat healthy food I think everyone agrees with that as a general statement, the questions arise as to the definition of toxins & healthy foods. Everyone has a different set of experiences and knowledge based on their own reading and with the conflicting amount...

Re: Subgroup of MS, FMS etc. have narrow veins?
Generally in my line of thinking, not convinced about the cold bit though. Just to add with the female bias, I think that part is related to nutrient sufficiency, if you are borderline on nutrients and every month your body goes into a peak demand period, the folicular stage then this may be enough ...

Re: Insulin--Could This Be the Key?
Just to add to that, three seperate factors to test
Fasting Insulin
Fasting Glucose
Glucose Tolerence/Insulin Sensitivity
and I'd add one more
Fasting Leptin (this one is pay for, about $35), Leptin is most likely the first one to dysfunction.

Re: Paleo Diet discussion
These are hypotheses. When one of these or another hypothesis is PROVEN – with repeatable, irrefutable evidence – that is a theory, and will hold the answer to our MS! I think you have a good suggestion, chico: a basic set of dietary/lifestyle guidelines would be a good idea. Let us start with: #1 ...

Re: Paleo Diet discussion
Everyone (including myself) with celiac or gluten sensitivity should be concerned about gluten. Thats clear to me. This is also my takeaway from reading the article from huffingtonpost. I missed out on the MS connection thou. I am aware that one study has found a higher incidence of celiac among pe...

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS
If you aren't convinced by variable results from poorly designed studies, then consider corrolations and vegetable oil consumption figures, production sources and future directions from the industry bodies. http://www.cropscience.org.au/icsc2004/symposia/3/5/156_ohlroggejb.htm An additional trend re...

Re: Subgroup of MS, FMS etc. have narrow veins?
Have you considered the diabetes connection with electrosensitivity?
Diabetes also causes peripheral circulation issues.
Have you tried reducing sugar/carb consumption at all?
IMO dysfunction in glucose metabolism is a contributer to a lot of different chronic diseases.

Re: A new concept for MS
Wasn't suggesting H Pylori as a cause or in any specific context relating to MS, merely an example of the pitfalls of assuming a singular causal factor in relation to any disease. How's this for an analogy? To make fire you need 4 things. 1/ An ignition source. 2/ A suitable Fuel 3/ Adequate Oxygen ...

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS
There isn't any studies, that I know of, that are specifically designed to determine impact of O6:O3 ratio on MS, so therefore you need to piece data together as best you can and try to make an informed decision on your own health. IMO MS is not an isolated health condition in the body, any improvem...

Re: Insulin--Could This Be the Key?
Well the first point is that just about any diet will be better than that prescribed by CW, in this case the Diabetes association. So the way I see this study is a bit like the studies that show whole grains are healthy, if you take time to look at those studies they are only comparing whether whole...
