Re: my Immunoglobulin A
Scat - is your doctor ordering any other tests to narrow down the cause? I read that IgA is responsible for the mucus membranes, so everything from saliva, tears, to the digestive tract. At the time I was feeling pretty good -- even my MS symptoms were good, so that's what I'm a little curious. I'm ...

my Immunoglobulin A
I got tested for celiac, among other tests, and though the IgA to gliadin came back as normal, my total serum quantitative Immunoglobulin A came back sky high at 429 with a reference level of 70-400. Anyone have any idea what this means?

Re: Dr. Corboy...aka especially Kristi Swim and Melissa Butl
Hey Chris! I had the same experience. I came into see one of the MS specialists at the Rocky Mountain MS Center (won't mention name) and he was making a very hard sell on Tysabri. I was curious, considering I only had a few lesions and my MRI was stable for about a year. I figured that since they do...

Yup. I'm a male and I live at 5200 feet altitude. So that could explain the higher number.

Re: my latest Vit D Levels
Thanks for the suggestions JL! I wouldn't say I have money to burn  but I can definitely budget a few dollars to make sure my levels are in line. I'll add the mag and zinc tests for sure, they're not unreasonably priced, and I'll add the other ones when I can afford them. My Hemoglobin came in...

Re: my latest Vit D Levels
Hey JL! Yeah I'm pretty happy with the numbers, though hard to believe I have to supplement 7,000 just to hit that. Makes me think the dietary suggested intake of ~600 IU is outrageously low. But maybe the MS genes make me absorb less of it... who knows. Anyway, unfortunately I didn't get Zinc level...

my latest Vit D Levels
Just wanted to share with the rest of you. I just did a full blood workup, including Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy. I've been taking 7,000 IU daily, with a multivitamin (which incl. 15mg zinc citrate), in the mornings. I work in an office and try to get outside about 15 minutes a day. My levels came at 52 ng...

Re: New report on coconut oil
Very intriguing! Thanks for posting.
I've been hesitant to try coconut, despite it's health claims, because of the high saturated fat content. But after doing more research I will try to include it in my meal plan. Thanks again!

Not really a whole food, but whey protein is probably the most effective way to increase your glutathione production.

Re: progesterone and MS
Hey Lib, I haven't done enough research on the reference levels. I just got new health insurance so I haven't been able to get to a doc to check levels. I'm hoping to get into a naturopath sometime soon to get my levels checked, naturopaths seem to be more open toward hormones, herbals, etc. Will ke...
