Hi Cece,
Amazing how a change in perspective can change things... before I was liberated, I very much wanted to "qualify" for CCSVI and was so happy to receive that diagnosis in Katowice. Now, not so much...

Second opinion
Hi scorpion, I'm hoping for a second opinion from the folks at Barrie, though since this preliminary report didn't give details of how much the "some" reflux I have matters, I hesitate to call it a first opinion. Also, unfortunately, anybody qualified to give a second opinion is a long way...

Symptoms
Nope, my symptoms have not really changed since my improvements, most of which occurred in the months after the procedure: energy, balance and bladder are all still much better (except for rare times), my mobility (dropfoot) is not really better (though better balance helps a lot), my left side stre...

Liberation follow-up results
I just received my official "Preliminary Report" results back from the Eastern Maine Medical Centre: FINDINGS: On the right, the right internal jugular vein valve was visualized and appeared to be normal. The cross-sectional area of the internal jugular vein was 1.79 cm/squared in the supi...

No restenosis
I was checked out a few weeks ago, and my blood flow (in my jugulars) seems to be good, so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

OK, so nothing, not even links, to the negative study(ies)? Kind of makes it hard to ascertain their validity and value.

Swollen foot
For the last few weeks my left (most affected side) foot has been swollen, especially after a day of sitting at a desk. Has anyone had success in dealing with such issues, post (or pre) liberation? Besides not sitting at my desk all day or taking Lasix (which will probably be prescribed, if it doesn...

Physio
I exercise almost every day: biking, weights, core work. My physiotherapists have been very helpful. Just today they showed my wife and me how to do PNF (ask your physiotherapist - they all know it, usually used for stroke patients) to help me with my continuing weak left ankle and foot-drop problem...

I had no noticeable improvement for the first few weeks (though folks said I "looked" better), then steady improvement for a couple of months (especially fatigue and balance), then mostly a plateau since then with some slight improvement over the remainder of my first year including, most ...

Miracles
As an SPMSer, I take my miracles where I can get them. One year after treatment, my fatigue remains much better, balance much better, mobility a bit better, bladder quite a bit better, manual dexterity slightly better. Given my trajectory before treatment, this change in my quality of life and outlo...

Travel insurance
It was over a year ago when I and some other Canadians were looking into this, trying to get quotes from some international medical travel insurance providers. In the end, they would only insure if a procedure was being done by an institution on their list, and they didn't have time (or interest?) i...

Betaseron
I stopped taking Betaseron last fall, but because my liver enzymes were up as much as because of my "liberation". However, if I (rather than my insurance company) was paying, I probably would have stopped injecting as soon as I was liberated (or never started). Given I'm SPMS, my neuro gav...
